Hi Exmil,

A stupid and basic mistake, they should read;

Burnley (76) WWWL 85)

WBA (48) DWWDD (57)

I hope that's put everything right.

PPIP

Hi Exmil, I also made a stupid mistake and put West Brom down for an away win.  Any chance of amending it! 😉🤣🤣🤣🤣

Stop it PPP. In my Perth it is anything but sunshine and shorts and barbecues! Hiwever, we are home to a choice of good chippies 😉

In Middlesbrough  today though for a first trip to the Riverside in a couple of years.

Hi Exmil

Thanks again for producing another challenge it’s appreciated by all.

No submission from me this time as I’m ill in bed with chest infection. Currently on antibiotics and steroids.

Cheers

@original-fat-bob.  Sorry to hear that you are laid up and wish you a speedy recovery.

Must be a Boro supporter’s curse as I have had hacking cough for over a week.  Best wishes.  😎

Andy,

Thank you for the usual quality and informative headliner. Well done. Sorry to hear you are under the weather OFB so here's hoping bro can cheer us all up this afternoon.

The side-effects of the radio therapy keep on turning up but apparently this can go on for months so it would appear to be the new normal. Last week the Oncologist pronounced himself happy with my progress and so did my specialist senior. They are both amazed that I've put on half a stone when all they hoped for, at best, was weight stability. I see the Consultant Head and Neck surgeon on the 22nd of the month so here's hoping my tongue shrinks a little but it's nowhere near as bad as it was.

Now for Boro, a clean sheet please and score some at the other end. No score predictions, I'll put the pox on them. Exmil I'm sorry I didn't do the challenge but the brain fog was pretty dense during the week.

Look after yourself OFB and you too Ken and best wishes to everyone.

UTB,

John

Excellent start by Sheff Utd, keep it up boys, or down as the case may be.

@john-richardson?  Good to hear that the consultant is pleased with your progress but sorry to learn the chemo is still having after effects.

A win today will be the tonic we all need.  😎

@john-richardson

I notice that our manager has kept the news and football very low key since West Brom . Which makes me believe that he is not pleased with the loss of three easy points caused by letting a limited team with a limited plan stand around in their box for 85 minutes and collect the points. So I'm guessing that he has been busy on the training ground all week and we should have our reward today.

Trust me Powmill, when we were baking in +38C earlier in the week we'd have gladly swapped Perth's, and as for chippy's these people simply haven't got a clue.  Firstly, the fish here are warm sea fish and have zero taste, secondly, they think here that batter is a blanket wrapped around the fish, no, it's part of it.  The chips are indescribable and why a F&C supper should come with anything other than salt and vinegar beggars belief, salad, coleslaw, tomato ketchup, really!

Any how, you can wear the beach attire in your Perth if your blood's topped up with antifreeze, but I think that the authorities might be tempted in issuing a section for your benefit.

The Blades seen off by Blackburn 0-1, which means that Rovers (temporarily, I hope) move into third place with 58 points from their 35 games, one ahead of Boro, & goal difference of +1.

First stage of the weekend results set in place, second stage to come at the Riverside, even the Skunks added to me delight by falling to a Manchester side by 2-0, this could be a cracking weekend.

Now then John,

So pleased to hear all of the positives that you're putting out here mate, believe, believe, believe.  If I congratulated my better half of putting on half a stone I'd be writing this from an intensive care ward and being fed through a straw, but I'm pleased to hear that you're turning in to a porker.  Don't worry about the weight pal, the dogs will have it off you in no time once the green light's given, with you all the way mate.

Get week soon Bob, John, Ken - anyone else 🤣. Seriously, hope you feel better soon.

Good first half from the Boro, dominating Reading with short, sharp passes that they can barely cope with.

Its only 2-0 but hopefully Boro are eying closing the goal difference on Sheff Utd as well as the points.

2-0 at half time. Akpom penalty makes it 20 League goals in a season. And he went on the fense like Slaven - celebrating the goal like the Wolfman himself. Great!

And Ramsey got the ball from the last Reading defender before the centre circle and run more than half the field alone to put it past the keeper on the 45th minute.

2-0 and I hope game over. Up the Boro!

2-0 at half time and there has to be more to come, be like the Aussies and not your typical POM, when your foot is on your opponents neck push down as hard as you can, squeeze the life out of them.

Apologies to OFB and not recognising in print to your ailment, I think that it goes without saying that all on here sincerely wish the best for us all and our friends and families without ever going to print, but what a pep to ones step when you see that the lads have your back.  I would love to do an interview with OFB and put the outcome in to his archive, but would the Michael Parkinson wannabe cry shy?

Ken, don't worry I haven't forgotten about you, after all you are the oracle in terms of anything Boro, well, anything really come to that.  Keep on keeping on my friend, and I sincerely hope that you don't take offence to me referring to you as my friend, as your posts have had me reliving my youth reading the Rover, no pictures but purely literature.  You are a special contributor on this blog and we have so many more questions to pose and for you to answer, all the best from down under.

Vic's half-time verdict:

HT: Boro comfortable. Dominated throughout but it was low-key until it exploded into goals & chaos. Chuba penalty & Ramsey charged down a ball & stormed upfield. Both sides will feel they could/should have had a penalty.

First 45: Dael has been absolutely Lighthousing Carroll every time the ball is in the air in that "hit the biggest lad ere on day one" approach to prison exercise yard survival

Also Ramsey excellent. Buzzed about, some elegant touches and intelligent movement, deft flick when crowded out won penalty, created the situation for the second & kept his head to finish.

It seems MC has another goal-scorer on his hands!  🙂  Chuba's second goal was apparently something of a landmark:  the team's 1,000 at The Riverside, not to mention a new goal-scoring record for a single player in a season!  Can't believe what I'm seeing:  FIVE goals & a clean sheet!  🙂  They would appear to have put the Baggies blues firmly behind them!

After a defeat, a 5-0 win do for me. Five substitutes at 4-0 so we lost some pace and just saw the game out.

But good reaction to the defeat at WBA, though. Only 4 points behind Sheffield United now. Up the Boro!

Wow, now that’s what I call a result. Anyone know why CA didn’t take the second penalty?

@martin-bellamy Because Forss kept the ball 😉. They shaked hands and then young Marcus took the pen. What a team player Chuba is.

Up the Borol

@original-fat-bob Take care, mate and stay well. The win was what the doctor ordered. Pity you were not able to be at Riverside today 😊. Up the Boro!

Vic's full-time verdict:
Whistle. 5-0. A superb, ruthless, efficient display as Boro rattle up a sixth successive home win. Dominated throughout, passed & prised open a team who came to stifle then dismantled them in a goal-fest. Excellent.

An even better better Chuba/Slave picture.

AV wrote: Just seen former fence-climbing favourite @bernieslaven coming out of the #Boro changies. He's been down for the ceremonial handing over of the Goal King Crown to @cakpom after 33 years. Nice touch. Chuba did a tribute climb on the barrier after scoring.

Happy days. Up the Boro!

Sorry to hear that OFB. Hope you recover quickly. Take good care of yourself, I'm sure 5 goals will have been a tonic for your morale.
