Taking a hint from Werder, I’ve opened a new thread building for 2024-2025.

The transfer season is well and truly open and the Boro seek to be off to a quick start although the Diasborians are unsure about the capabilities of players signed or about to sign.

So let’s be full of hope for the new season because I think our best signing for 2024-2025 has been Michael Carrick!

Boro striker Matthew Hoppe will leave the Riverside this summer, according to the Northern Echo. Middlesbrough signed the front man from Mallorca in the summer of 2022, but he has only made three Championship appearances since the appointment of Michael Carrick. Hoppe, who has been loaned out to Hibernian and San Jose Earthquakes, hasn’t started a league game for Boro. The 23-year-old has two years left on his contract.

MIDDLESBROUGH believe versatile Delano Burgzorg will offer variety in their forward line - with the new recruit to be closely assessed in pre-season before a definitive decision is made on how he's best used at the Riverside.

Burgzorg can lead the line as an out-and-out striker but is equally as comfortable in a deeper attacking role and is effective playing off the left.

While the 25-year-old didn't set the world alight at Huddersfield last season, he was playing for a poor Town side who went through four managers and suffered relegation to League One. Burgzorg still scored seven goals in 33 appearances and Boro liked what they saw from the former Dutch youth international, who they watched extensively.

Matthew Hoppe will be likely to leave Middlesbrough this summer, but there may have to be a bit of patience before a deal can be concluded.

Hoppe is among the players Boro are hoping to find new homes for this summer, having deemed the former Schalke and RCD Mallorca striker surplus to requirements after a difficult two years at the club. Having spent time on loan in the MLS last season, that will be his most likely destination this time around too.

However, despite the EFL transfer window opening last Friday, and with Boro closing in on signing USA international midfielder Aidan Morris from Columbus Crew, Hoppe is unlikely to be able to secure a Boro exit until the MLS transfer window opens on Thursday, July 18

Nice one OFB! - it will be interesting to see how things develop now the window is open and from what we saw last term with the number of injuries Boro had it means having a stronger squad is vital in the Championship.

I'm also looking for a few players to kick on from showing promise to having a big season and would fancy perhaps Azaz and Bangura to make this a breakthrough season and become important players. Much may depend on whether some of those who have caught the eye staying - notably Hackney and Latte Lath but as we know everyone will have their price.

I agree about Azaz and Bangura and maybe Gilbert could follow the growth of Rogers. It’s the untapped potential that makes the squad really interesting. I would suggest that MFC have one year with this squad - at most 2 - to break into the EPL. VDB and Hackney are both young enough for the club to choose to set very high transfer fees this summer and try to keep the squad together. Quite where the ‘cannot be refused’ figure stands is open to discussion. I would suggest pds20 million but it probably depends on what Steve Gibson wants to achieve with the club.

Whilst rightly so, all eyes have been on 14 June (transfer window open) 26 June (fixture list out) there is another really interesting date in June, the 30th, when all championship clubs are to have submitted their accounts for last season, how many clubs will be worried about points deduction etc, any sales to bring a club into line for FFP, have to be completed by the 30th, interesting 10 days to go, although I believe Boro are completely safe.

Come on BORO.

Todays update: this morning I was expecting a telephone appointment with the urologist at 9:45, at 9:30 I received a call from his secretary saying he wanted to see me in person, how soon could I get in, I replied I could be there within the hour. The first thing the consultant said was that the PET scan had shown an uptake in my prostrate but he qualified that with the fact that a PET scan was not the right scan for a prostrate, so he wanted to conduct a physical examination of my prostrate, which he did and proclaimed it was totally normal, so all ended well after a bit of concern. Tomorrow at 1100hrs I have an appointment with Mr Mansy, the Oncology consultant, when I expect to be told the programme for my chemotherapy. Another bit of news, my liver scan at Northallerton has suddenly been brought forward 9 days from the 12th to the 3rd, which my partner and I think Oncology have had something to do with the change as they are planning to start my chemo shortly after the 3rd July, all should be revealed tomorrow.

A Boro fan posted a picture of himself and Riley McGree at a Portugal airport yesterday, unfortunately he didn’t ask Riley what his plans with Boro are 😱

Boro's midfield target Aidan Morris played 90 minutes in yesterday's defeat at Miami. The result was Miami 2 , Columbus Crew 1 at full time. Perhaps he is due to play his last game for Columbus at home to Sporting KC on late Saturday night.

I hope to hear positive Boro transfer news early next week. Up the Boro!

I will start chemo in 1-3 weeks as I need to have a kidney scan to confirm my kidneys will cope with the drugs. The chemo will last approximately 12 weeks, in 4 cycles each lasting 3 weeks. I will have surgery 4-6 weeks after the chemo finishes so hopefully all will be over by Christmas. I have been given a 40 page (A4) printout about the chemo, mostly to highlight the side effects of the chemo. The chemo drugs are Gemcitabine and Carboplatin, along with chemo I will also have an Immunotherapy drug called Nivolumab (Opdivo) with its own side effects, the drugs will be given intravenously which could take 3 hours. On Day 1 I will get Gemcitabine and Carboplatin, on Day 8 Gemcitabine only, then a rest period with no treatment for 13 days, then the 2nd cycle will start and so on. After the first cycle I will have a scan to see how the drugs are affecting the cancer. That’s all the information I received today, I will let you know when I get a date for the first cycle.

An interesting fact from the Guardian:

It is England v Denmark later and the two goalkeepers have something in common: they have both played for Darlington.

Jordan Pickford had a loan spell at Darlo as a teenager when he was on the books at Sunderland back in 2012, going to play 17 league games in the Conference. Meanwhile Kasper Schmeichel played four games for the north-east club way back in 2006 in League Two.”

England was excellent. They could win a tournament.

Unfortunately they could win only a WALKING football tounament. I don't think a single midfielder broke the rule before Gallanger got on. Their shirts were dry and at least Bellingam did not sweat at all.

Unbelievable.  Up the Boro!

Unfortunately the news from my Urologist today was not as positive as Exmil’s!

My scan and PSA results did not cause him undue concern but following a physical exam, yes you know what where, he felt there was something which needed further investigation.

I am now scheduled for a prostate biopsy on the 3rd of July with the usual pre op procedures before hand involving, blood tests, X-ray, echo cardiograph and meeting with the anaesthetist.

At least Mrs P got the all clear for another year following her Kidney cancer and removal of said kidney nearly five years ago.

We all have difficulties to overcome, this is just another one like being born a Boro supporter! 😉🤣😎

KP

Unfortunately a lot of us guys are going through this stage as we get older.

My nightime runs are more frequent and antibiotics not doing any good after three courses of treatment.

It’s a problem to share with others on the blog not to feel ashamed or coy about problems go to the doctors and get it sorted.

KP EXMIL AND JOHN

ALL THE VERY BEST WISHES

@original-fat-bob     The nightmare of old age. Fortunately nowadays, old age comes a little later and medical advance gives us a better chance of beating the ills.

Bob is correct, any minor issues, go to the doctors.

Take care Exmil and KP.

I see that Coventry have surpassed last seasons ST sales to a new record on the back of a price freeze. They have also increased the Family Zone area with a ticket exchange option.

Their early bird ran until June 19. Mmm!!
