Boro are in advanced talks to sign Manchester United midfielder, Hannibal Mejbri, on a season-long loan without an option to buy (Sky Sports)

Man U were reluctant at first with Tav and McGree in Boro’s ranks they thought that he would have restricted game time.

Now Tav is on his way it has opened up a place for Mejbri who is a dyanamic player with good engines.

OFB.  I hope he brings his elephants with him, we can park them in the goal mouth and stop the opposition from scoring! 😎😀😀

Interesting to note that Mejbri is on the substitute’s bench for ManUs friendly with Rayo Vallecano today. 😎

Mejbri replaced Christian Eriksen on 61 minutes.

He appears to be a really exciting prospect. This is a perfect example of the progressive transfer policy that the club is supposed to be trying to pursue and we now have to give the recruitment team the benefit of any doubt until we see whether it works.

Maybe not perfect example oF long term planning as the reported price is quite high although still relatively small compared to the cost of successful strikers. At that price he is more than a prospect to develop, He should also be delivering this season.

Does anyone know why Ben Gibson was missing from the Norwich 18 at Cardiff on Saturday?

Just asking that as we miss a left-footed centre-back, like. Of course he could be just injured or looking for a move back to the EPL. Up the Boro!

Jarkko

I too noticed Ben Gibsons omission from the squad and did wonder where he was !

I don’t think he’ll be back in the Prem yet. He hasn’t really played that well for Norwich.

@Bob He has naturally a connection to to the top level at Boro. And Kieran knows the people at Norwich. You never know as long as we do not have a natural left-footed centre-back ...

Up the Boro!

@Selwynoz, thanks for the info. Perhaps it is better not to speculate with Ben too much. He will get a child early next year. The baby should grow up in the North East but let's see first where the two teams are next season.

Update: Middlesbrough are plotting a new move for Hull City defender Jacob Greaves after their initial approach was rejected, sources have told Football Insider.

Boro boss Chris Wilder has made the 21-year-old his top target as he looks to bring in a new left-sided centre-back before the close of the transfer window.

Hull are reluctant to lose Greaves and are in talks with the defender over a new deal.

I liked the post until I read on the internet that he is right footed when we need a left footed centre back.

I am now hoping either the internet is wrong or if correct that MFC are not pursuing an interest.  Perhaps his agent is trying to improve his proposed new contract with Hull. 😎

According to Transfermarkt,  he is left-footed.

It does not make s3nce to buy a right-footed centre-back! UBT!

From today, Hull City remain determined to keep highly-rated defender Jacob Greaves at the MKM Stadium after Middlesbrough failed with an improved bid believed to be in the region of £5m.

City have turned down Boro's latest advances for Greaves, Hull Live understands.

I think £ 7 million is needed. Up the Boro!

OFB, nothing on any website so far, not even NewsNow, are you sure your source is reliable or did you witness Larsen at the training ground, maybe somebody is winding you up 😂.

OFB,

You just turn the collar of your Macintosh up a little higher and adjust the brim of your trilby and keep watching and listening at the gates but keep the old black Citroen Traction Avant parked around the corner so that nobody recognises you...

This is as all very Harry Lime, (or is it Harry Palmer?) and there's nothing like a properly crafted rumour.

Keep it young man. Nothing at the Tontine?

John

Yes, I have seen this one and some others. Let's keep it up, OFB.

The news about Greaves is disappointing.  One wonders why we didn’t go for Davies who eventually went to Rangers for reportedly £4M.

Given the increased offer for Greaves, I wonder if desperation is now beginning to impact. 😎

KP,     I think the lure of European football and most probably a higher wage would be a bigger pull than the Boro to be fair. And I think you have to say, Rangers are a bigger club unfortunately.

As time goes on and we do start to see less options to choose from, especially a left sided CB, then we will probably have to pay more to get what we want.

As long as we do get desperate and sign BG. Now that would be a mistake.

It is not criticism, just surprised that since you quoted he has had his medical and was training with the first team, incidentally there is a gallery on MFC website of the squad training and I don’t see him in the pictures, I took it as a done deal and would be announced today. I, personally, tend not to post reports that are on twitter as invariably they have no substance but that is my personal choice. No offence was intended.

Come on BORO.

Pedro.  I agree with you but just wonder if we had got in early we may have just pinched him from under Rangers nose.

It is what it is and another one gone and we are searching lower and lower down the list.

If the plan was to get players in early then why are we struggling to recruit even Championship level players! 😎
