Middlesbrough currently sit on 62 points with six games left to play. And Wilder said that Boro might need 74 points to reach the play-offs.

They are 12 points off Wilder’s predicted figure of 74, meaning they need to win at least four of their last six games to have a chance. (Or winning three and drawing three).

I agree with him. With 71 points one would most probably be seventh. This is all speculation but the truth is that it will be tough to get into the play-offs. And it will go to the last day. So very tight.

We could need a win at Bournemouth.  Up the Borol

If we win all our home matches - which is not impossible - we have three wins. We won I think eight in a row before Fulham.

So one win must come away from home at Bournemouth,  Swansea or Preston. The latter two have not much to play for but Swansea is one of the form teams at the moment.

But Boro needs to become the next form team over the six matches left. As simple as that.

How different the table would look like if we had won the match versus Hull. But that is past.

Up the Boro!

As someone who lives in PNE’s heartland, I really hope it doesn’t go down to the last game. Our house will be up for sale at the end of May (🤞🏻) regardless of the result, but I can do without Deepdale’s finest on our estate reminding me that they kept us in the Championship.

So the rumour mongers are out on twitter saying that Jones is out for the season!

We’ll see if he’s in the squad tomorrow!

Just watched CW’s pre match press conference and he said IJ was available for tomorrow and that MP would be involved with the U23s tomorrow.

DF has a calf problem and would not be available for the Bournemouth game; he didn’t mention Monday’s game so DF may be out for that also. 😎

He briefly mentioned DF may be available for Monday.

Reading between the lines I think he’s going to drop Lumley !

That was how I interpreted his comments re Lumley but I didn’t pick up on Fry possibly being available on Monday but that is how it is being reported in the EG  😎

Come on BORO.

Yes, Wilder said Fry could (!) be available for the Monday's match. But I believe he could be on bench at best. Why would we risk him so soon?

My English not good enough to say if Lumley will play or not, though . I see above, it was difficult to read for you others, too 🤣🤣🤣.

Up the Boro!

Since pre-match pressers are probably more about confusing and misleading the opposition camp than about providing accurate info for the Boro faithful, it's probably best to take them with a large pinch of salt.

As far as Lumley is concerned we all appear to be in the same club, Confused.Com! 😂😎

I can’t see other than a Bournemouth win tomorrow as they are on a decent run of results. Also they  have every incentive to win to cement their second place position as soon as possible.

By comparison it’s a game Boro can’t really afford to lose and so may adopt a cautious and defensive position from the start.

If so, it will give the initiative and most possession to Bournemouth and so it could be a game where Boro spend most of the game defending- without their best defender .

I think the best Boro can expect is a 0-0 draw as I can’t see the light weight forwards causing Bournemouth too much trouble.

I agree that it feels like a Bournemouth victory today and a hammerblow to our playoff chances.

Typical Boro win for me then. Bournemouth 1-2 Boro.

Am I alone in thinking Bournemouth are in anything but convincing form?

8 matches since start of March.

Lost 2 (Preston and WBA)

Drawn 3 (Peterborough, Reading, Sheffield Utd)

Won 3 (Huddersfield, Derby , Bristol City) and even then they conceded 2 to Bristol at home, scraping a win by 3-2.

Huddersfield has been the only result that looked remotely convincing at 3-0 and I suspect the way that the Terriers play will have suited Bournemouth.

To me they are vulnerable and while it is clear we are now extremely unlikely to finish 2nd after back to back defeats  I do think Forest have what it takes to overhaul them.

Of course  for that to stay likely, we need to beat them today and I believe we will.

What a great start to the sporting weekend, with Yorkshire CCC dismissing Gloucestershire for 227 with the final 7 wickets going down for a mere 75 runs with apart from the impressive West Australian Marcus Harris contributing 136 of that total meant that the rest of the home side only scored 91 runs, this at Bristol where the great WG Grace once pummelled the Yorkshire attack for 318 not out in 1876.

I mention this because it will take an Herculean performance for Boro to emulate Grace’s performance this afternoon at Bournemouth this afternoon,

I agree. I think Bournemouth fans do too. Scott Parker hasn't really convinced them and there's a sense that if they do make it up it's going to be because of massive spending rather than being well coached and managed.

I think they'll fancy their chances against us but if we can raise our game and put them under pressure I think the crowd might get disgruntled pretty quickly. They are clear favourites on paper but the game isn't played on paper.

Arrived back in Germany yesterday after a pre-Easter trip to visit family in the Teesside area and now looking forward to today's game at Bournemouth.

Many thanks to OFB for his match preview and agree with many of his points regarding team selection - though reading some of Chris Wilder's press conference remarks it sounds like he'll persist with Lumley. In reality, he doesn't have much choice as I haven't seen anything from Daniels to suggest he's any better with poor distribution too - plus it would be a big gamble to throw in Sol Brynn at this crucial stage as any error he makes could end up costing Boro promotion and may blight his promising career.

The good news it seems is that Jones has recovered from his illness, which I presume was likely to be Covid given it wasn't mentioned what the illness was (usually a giveaway). If he does play then I would drop Crooks to the bench as he's looked off the pace for quite a few weeks now. Hopefully Riley McGree can put in a better performance than he did against Hull but he was not alone in that department as most of the team were way off their best.

On that basis, I'd opt for the same team as Deleriad suggested with Sporar and Watmore starting and Coburn being my first-choice sub. Bamba should make more than an able deputy for Fry and Wilder suggest that Dael may even be fit for Monday - though why risk him if before next week if Bamba gets through the game.

Anyway, this has become something of a must-win game along with Monday's encounter with Huddersfield - Boro really can't afford to be more than three points off the play-offs with four games left as it will make every game a must win.

Bournemouth themselves have got a very tricky end to the season - Boro (H), Coventry (A), Fulham (H), Swansea (A), Blackburn (A), Forest (H), Millwall (H) - so they will be keen to get some points on the board after just picking up one from their last two. Indeed, I could easily see them falling out of the top two given those games as none of them will be easy against clubs all looking for a late surge into the top six.

So Boro should get at the Cherries early and if we get ahead I suspect their nerves may start to show.

Prediction: Bournemouth 0 - 2 Boro

I mention this because it will take an Herculean performance for Boro to emulate Grace’s performance this afternoon at Bournemouth this afternoon on a ground that Boro have never won at, but such historical records have to be broken some time. Considering how Boro won at Old Trafford and then beat Spurs in the FA Cup since when I believe Tottenham have won every match shows what Boro are capable of. Yesterday the Tykes latest Test match cricketer took 4 Gloucester wickets for a mere 19 runs and was the Yorkshire hero of the day, just as Josh Coburn was Boro’s against Spurs, so might Josh be the hero at the Vitality Stadium this afternoon?

Some things never change though, as Cas Tigers annihilated Wakefield Trinity 34-4 at Belle Vue, the 17th successive win against their local rivals. Trinity had impressively won 4 consecutive matches in Super League until losing to Wigan in the Rugby League Challenge Cup last weekend, whilst Cas have been terrible for much of this season, so it just shows the capriciousness of sport today.

Therefore the question I’m asking myself is “Will Boro make it a happy hattrick of successes for three of my favourite Sports clubs over this weekend?”. My heart says that Boro will win this afternoon, but my head tells me that Boro wiil do well to avoid defeat. I think I’ll settle for a draw, which shouldn’t be terminal, but what do I know?

Very surprised to hear about Dyche. I see that Paul Jenkins who was involved with the Boro Academy for 23 years is part of the new management team at Burnley.

With regards to today will be happy with a point.

James Tavernier scored 2 out 3 goals last night to ensure Glasgow Rangers are through to the semi fnal of the European League.

He was a masterclass. Hope his brother Marcus was watching! 😀

Seems an odd decision to sack Dyche at this late stage and perhaps a good decision from the opposition's point of view given any new manager has no time to get to grips with the job - Neil Warnock is presumably waiting by the phone today!

Read some amusing comments on the decision - one said "Well that's Everton safe then" - to which someone else replied: "Never underestimate Frank Lampard" 🤣

I see that the referee tonight is Tim Robinson who Wayne Rooney had issues with last week although on reading the reports he was poor for both sides

On a somewhat topical note - I see Arsenal fans are not too happy to continue with one of their current shirt sponsors - It seems the now unfortunate 'Visit Rwanda' logo on their sleeve has now taken on a less positive message than they'd originally hoped.

Still, perhaps they haven't fully understood the UK Government's latest scheme as the Under-Secretary of State for Justice and Tackling Illegal Migration, Tom Pursglove, told the Radio 4 Today program that "The aim of scheme is so people can enjoy ‘fully prosperous’ lives" - he explained that once migrants had been sent to Rwanda, successful asylum applicants would then be allowed to stay in Rwanda to start new lives rather than needing to go to the trouble of returning to the UK.

Although, he appeared to forget to add that Rwanda, with a population of just 12 million,  is one of the poorest countries in the world and is ranked 167th in the GDP per capita table at just $762 per year (one place above equally prosperous Afghanistan). In comparison, the UK is ranked 26 with a GDP per capita of almost $40,000.

At 33, Tom Pursglove is the youngest MP in parliament and has a burning ambition to rise up the Conservative ranks - for those who are not keen on current politicians, you may be interested to know his birthday is on the 5th of November...

That’s a shock !

I must admit I don’t particularly like the guy but respect what he’s done for Burnley the past few years.

He’ll get snapped up I’m sure
