@original-fat-bob

I think for the young healthy double-vaccinated they can test positive, have barely no symptoms for a few days and then be fully recovered and test negative within 5-6 days. Happened to my niece a week before xmas and only had a bit of a headache for one day - though didn't show positive in the lateral flow tests but only in the PCR as there's not enough viral load and was negative 6 days later.

Just for info, the Boro game is on Sky Showcase channel (106) as well as the normal Sky Sports additional subscription Sports Channels. The Showcase channel is "free" to those who have a basic Sky subscription and won't (or shouldn't) require an additional payment to view.

Given the lack of games there should be plenty of options on the internet for our "overseas fans".

Great first half so much good movement and passing, just a shame we have not taken the many good opportunities created.

Fingers crossed that Forest do not get back into it. CoB 😎

Fantastic football played by Boro in that first-half dominant performance - dare I say dream football - though hopefully it's RR's dream and not mine...

Superb in the first half.

Possession: Boro 63% Forest 37%

Shots: Boro 7 Forest 1

Shots on Target: Boro 4 Forest 0

I am sure tthe Tricky Trees try to change something in the second. But what? We have played really well.

Up the Boro!

They look like a completely different team from Warnock’s. A great performance and a bonus to be able to watch it on my iPad at the van.

Great game of football to watch and Boro finally got that second goal to ease any worries of that nightmare scenario of failing to win a game that they dominated and looked a very good team. You would never of imagined a few months ago the same players would have been capable of playing such positive front-foot football as they appeared to be a team who were built by Warnock to stop the opposition. Hats off to Chris Wilder for changing the style and mentality in such a short time and now up to 5th and looking like promotion contenders - and who knows what is possible with the arrival of a more clinical striker in January!

Finally a football team in all senses of the word. Still room for improvement, particularly the need to take chances when on top.

That being said this was a very good team performance against the top form team who we dominated for most of the game.

Onwards, upwards and off to Blackpool to hopefully keep the unbeaten run going and consolidate a top six slot. 😎😊

@jarkko break out the cool aide I'm becoming a believer, with a small b at the moment, very good first half display, we should have been 3 up, but  saying that they should have scored, maybe I'm being a little churlish, my son is up from the smoke and he said that was the best he has seen them play since aitor was in charge. Anyway onwards and upwards happy christmas and new year and stay safe diasboro UTB..

I want of (empty)atched it from start to finish. In the first half I crushed two cans of (empty) Estrella in frustration at the chances going begging but a fine display and a good result. Excellent work Boro and I can't believe the change in the team. Well done Mr Wilder and his squad of coaches. Good to see him and Leo when Sporar scored.

My New Year wish, apart from keep playing so positively, that commentators learn how to pronounce Tavernier's name. I n fact do we need commentators?

Well done Boro, the frustration was all over the Forest players faces.

Stay safe everyone.

UTB,

John

Well the dreams were somewhere in between Werder's and mine but 2-0 was a result both of us will be more than happy with and afford us pleasant dreams this evening.

Boro truly walked in a Wilder Wonderland this afternoon. What a difference it makes watching a team wanting to win a game, run, hassle, chase and close down opponents not letting them settle and never giving them a second to relax. The first goal may have been an O.G. but it was a direct result of pressure football and a desire to win from Boro.

This Boro side truly look on the ascendency and getting better game by game. I was a bit concerned with the painful looking knock on the knee that Fry took in the closing stages, hoping he would be fit for Blackpool and then realised that Bamba was there if he wasn't. The biggest gap to fill for us at the moment I think would be Jones and I'd guess that the solution to that was sat in the Stands observing the complete change in Boro's philosophy seeing his Team mates being torn apart with ease. That may prove a major coup in changing the lads mindset in whether he comes back to Boro.

I must say it marks a massive change watching Boro without critically dissecting a plethora of shortcomings and pent up frustration being replaced with edge of the seat entertainment but more importantly enjoyment.

Well, overall that was tremendous and miles better than a few weeks ago. The team played with energy, at pace , closed the opposition down quickly to win the ball back and passed the ball accurately.

They could and should, have been 3-0 or 4-0 in front at halftime and therefore there was the danger that a single goal would not be enough.

Possession of the ball reversed in the second half to more like 70/ 30 to Forest and they had the best chance to score. Had it happened then all 3 results would have been possible.

But the second goal killed the game off and Boro have reached the dizzy heights of fifth in the table although teams immediately below them could change all that if they win their games in hand. Points in the bag are always better.

I just hope that Boro wrap young Jones in cotton wool during the week as he has emerged as a real star.  In some ways, he reminds me of Edwin Holliday, Billy Day and Arthur Kaye with the way he runs at defenders and takes them on with his speed. I fear that sooner or later a defender will clatter him.

An excellent performance from the Boro today.  Not much to add to what has been said above except to say that it is a pleasure to see the players looking as though they are enjoying their football instead of just going through the motions.  Long may it last.

I’d like to echo everything that has been said above. Today’s was the best Boro performance for many a year. How brilliant it is to see us playing so well.
Paddy was my MOM, but frankly it could have been any of them.

I hope you’ve all had a nice Christmas. Boro certainly did their best to make it a good one!

What a job Mogga is doing at Blackburn. I just realized they are third and six points in front of us. As they did not play yesterday, they also have a game in hand over the Boro.

As I have always said he is an excellent manager. Blackburn are no money bags either so he is doing very well in there.

But his chances of a quick return are low as long as we have Willder and Kieran Scott at the helm. And long may that continue.

So I just wanted to pay attention to the work Mogga is doing.

Up the Boro!

I was away with the in-laws so missed the game entirely but that performance and result was one heck of a gift.

Although I felt it was time for Warnock to go (and think he should have gone during the previous international break) I didn't think the improvement under Wilder was going to be anything like this standard. I figured it would be a bit mixed but as long as I saw improvement and a plan that I would be happy.

It is only 7 games but this has to be the best set of performances since relegation. Under Pulis we had a period of efficient competence, Woodgate had his five golden games and Warnock had a good run at the start of last season but in all those cases you had doubts. This is the first time I've truly had confidence in the run and felt like there's still more to come.

It's remarkable really that the same players who were so inconsistent under Warnock can be drilled in a 180 degree turn of tactics and come out looking so good just a few games later.

4 wins in a row, clean sheets in everyone of them, two of the matches against the number 2 team in the league and the team in the best form. Watching the highlights was like watching the best parts of AK's play-off team and promotion team; defensive organisation and the ability to attack in waves mixing patient build-up and fast breaking counters.

Even if we do fall off as the season goes on, Wilder has shown us a glimpse of the promised land.

Well, fellow Boro supporters!  What did we think of that?

I can tell you what it was like in the stadium: an exciting, enjoyable, adrenaline rush of a game - played out in front of the largest crowd we have had for quite some time.  It seemed as though supporters went there, full of Christmas spirit and expectation, ready to believe that a bright New Year awaits.  The players clearly believed already.  It was noisy, exultant and a very pleasant way to spend a Boxing Day afternoon.

In the first half Boro pressed and attacked regularly.  The own goal was a direct result of that pressure put on the Forest defence. Of course there was a niggling doubt that we might spurn the Christmas gift which landed in our laps, as we had several chances to put the game to bed but failed to take them.  Still, it was a rousing first half performance.

In the second half Forest, unsurprisingly for a team which was the form team in the division, put pressure on Boro and retained better possession.  They made chances - two of the most memorable being one shot flying well over the bar from what looked an easy chance from (or maybe just outside) the 6 yard box and a header which landed on the roof of the net.  But we scored at the right time, with Sporar thumping home from close range to make it 2-0. I think at that stage the whole crowd knew we would win, though we did have further openings and could have scored more. At the final whistle the crowd made its pleasure known. So many people, so much noise!

Forest remain a good team.  I don't argue they had a bad game but that Boro played better overall, and didn't let Forest dictate the game. It was like a boxing match-up, made between two genuine title prospects, two genuine contenders, rather than one decent fighter and a "bum". In a genuine contest, either fighter has the ability to land a knockout blow onto the chin of his opponent. It would not have been a surprise, before the game, had Forest won the game, and continued their powerful promotion challenge.  Forest may very well be there or there abouts at the end of the season.  Had they beaten Boro, in light of the run they have been on, automatic promotion would not have been beyond them.

Even good teams have the odd reverse, and that will inevitably happen to Boro at some time so, in the same way, that will not make Boro a bad team when it happens.  But the tide has turned. You can lose a game but still be confident the team will bounce back.  Keeping clean sheets is now becoming a good habit.  The players look better players than they did a couple of months ago. That suggests Chris Wilder and his backroom staff know what they are doing; it suggests the players have quickly cottoned on to this: more importantly it has resulted in a sudden rise in the levels of confidence all teams need to succeed.  It has rubbed off on the crowd and going to the game has become a rather more optimistic enterprise than a few months ago.

This was a REALLY enjoyable game. It's the sort of game that could make you fall back in love with football, and the Boro.  Well done everybody, including the crowd!

@forever-dormo

Thanks for that report

I was just settling down to watch the game when our superfast broadband decided to play up and not perform. I ended up listening to the game on the radio wishing I’d gone !

Spent an hour this morning! with the internet provider before they accepted that the speed of the system had been severely compromised.

Hopefully fixed soon so I appreciate your match report it gives some of the atmosphere as the 5 minutes of  highlights on Quest were poor.

For the first time ever I decided to watch the EFL highlights on Quest this morning - what a waste of time this programme is, despite Boro being only one of two Championship games it only managed to show three highlights of those all-action first 45 minutes, commencing with the own goal in the 17th minute and then a Boro attack that started with a walking-pace passage and then a long ball. The third passage was when Jones hit the post.

It gave absolutely no indication of the pace. intensity and movement in which Boro played that first half. Indeed, they probably showed more of Forest attacking in the second half, which ended up giving the appearance that they were unlucky not to get something from the game. Talk about fake news! Still, at least Boro should remain under the radar for a little while longer.

Anyway, hard to believe Chris Wilder has only been in charge for just seven games given the dramatic change in style - imagine if he'd been appointed in the summer 17 games earlier!

As others have said that was a fantastic performace from every player.

Can anyone confirm that Jones was picked by Warnock?

I managed to get a stream for the game thankfully but it was BBC Tees Commentary, so I switched the sound off, relying on the Gazzette commentary of the game.

@werdermouth

Quest is absolute bilge, complete waste of time. Too much talk from Colin Murray. He was bad enough when on MOYD years ago, can’t stand the man! My first choice for him should be sent down on Room 101.

Nice to see almost a full house at the Riverside, and I would give the supporters as men/women/children the accolade of People of the Match. The top six finish is certainly possible, but let’s get things into perspective. I honestly can’t see Fulham or Bournemouth being caught, Forest will regularly have the backing of regular large crowds, West Brom will make the top six also, and like Jarrko writes Blackburn under Tony Mowbray are playing excellent football. So in my opinion it’s between Stoke City, Sheffield United, QPR, Huddersfield and Boro fighting for the other play off place. Let’s not forget either that Boro have played 13 home games and 11 away. This will be balanced out on New Year’s Day.

One thing in Boro’s favour however is that they still have to play Fulham, Stoke and West Brom at home and they usually win against the higher ranked teams. Improvement is certainly needed in Boro’s away form though with only 13 points from 11 matches so far. A win at Blackpool would be a good start as the Tangerines have already lost 5 times at home with 0-3 defeats to Huddersfield and Luton, and even Cardiff won 2-0 there recently. In contrast Sheffield United’s four home defeats have been one goal margins.

At the moment I’d take a 4 points from these next two matches, but really prefer to concentrate on one match at a time. The League table at Easter might be completely different to the one at the moment, so for now I’m still thinking Boro are outsiders for a play off place, but nearer to one than I thought possible a few weeks ago.

As I couldn't get to Middlesbrough on the 26th I was hoping that, with all the postponements, Sky would show our match and was pleased to be able to watch it with a day subscription to NOW TV. Even with our recent form I was surprised that we could outplay Forest who were on a longer good run. I missed being in the crowd as the atmosphere seemed similar to the promotion match against Brighton a few years ago.

Strange that the 34 matches in England and Scotland over Boxing Day and today should not produce a single draw until tonight’s match at St James’s Park.
