I really like women’s football and the Lionesses are a great team. I don’t miss the niggly fouls and diving that you get in the men’s game and the players look like they’re really enjoying themselves.
Tonight's performance was world class - hopefully they can continue in this vein.

Another great performance last night.  Beth Mead is from Hinderwell and is a top class player. Onward to the next stage.

I enjoy watching football whenever I get the chance and last season I followed a lot of the women's matches on the free FA site. They are a lot better players than I ever was.

Sometimes I wished that Boro could have signed some of them to solve our striker problem!

We did have Beth Mead for a while before she went to Sunderland.

Another terrific win for the Lionesses last, albeit against a Spanish team who will feel unlucky not to have prevailed.

We’re driving up to the Highlands next Tuesday to see my daughter - I wonder whether the game will be on the BBC up there.

Great win for England. I have watched every match and enjoyed the games. I expected a hard fight from Sweden and had a bottle of Rioja open before the start though I managed to get through it with just half the bottle so I will finish it tomorrow.

Martin

I didn't catch any of the Women's Euros in the group stages but have watched most of the quarter-finals and yesterday's semi. I've been impressed by the standard, the quality, composure and intelligence of the play. Beth Mead's goal was very well executed and Russo's back-heel that nut-megged (or whatever the female equivalent is 😉) the keeper was sublime and would be worthy of Ronaldo or Messi.

And Yes, the total lack of simulation and play-acting or feigning injury is completely refreshing to see as the players just brush themselves down and get on with it.

Should be another interesting semi tonight and was equally impressed by Germany - sadly I'm going to miss the final as we're hitting the road early Sunday morning as we head off on holiday - so I will probably record it and watch it in three weeks time.

Heartfelt congratulations to England’s lionesses. It’s great to see so many Diasborians lending their support to women’s football as these ladies have put the male cricketers to shame especially in the last few weeks yet once again the achievement has passed our local rag by as if it had never happened - zilch, nada, nothing, just the same repetitive stories over glorifying our local football team. Yes we want to read about the Boro, but it’s as if I’ve read each article over and over again. As I’ve mentioned before, the journalists stories are often badly written and it’s time to become a weekly newspaper. Oh for a Cliff Mitchell or indeed Redcar Red, Andy R or OFB who I’m sure would do much better.

Our local football clubs start their long campaigns in the FA Cup and FA Vase next Saturday, but I doubt we’ll hear anything about those matches from the Teesside Gazette, or the climax to the NYSD cricket fixtures as Middlesbrough CC who were the forerunners to Middlesbrough FC, attempt to win the title for the first time in 12 years.

Nah, you’d be halfway through reading his article and it’d disappear with no notice or explanation. 😉
