The first twenty minutes were disappointing it was hard to tell which was the League 1 side. Then we started to grow into the game and eventually took control, and scored three pleasing goals. The positives were more minutes into Jones and Philips looked good in his cameo, and Sarmiento showing a good all round game, thought he worked really hard and was all over the pitch. One disappointment is Castledine, I thought that he might kick on this season but I think that his time at Huddersfield last season was maybe his ceiling, I hope that I am wrong with that assessment,
@pedro - I think l I could do that on my laptop but not on my android mobile phone. When I'm away in the caravan I will always have my mobile phone with me but only very rarely my laptop.
Your laptop isn't going to take up that much space, Dormo, and if you can't connect your laptop by wi-fi, you can always use Bluetooth to connect to your mobile phone to get an internet connection.

@johnny-canuck - I suppose so! Although the other idea is just to check more carefully, as each game approaches, whether the kick-off time has been moved for TV reasons. I could always look at the heading to each Boro Match Preview on Diasboro!
@pedro - That is very kind of you! I will have a chat with Son-snd-Heir later. No point stressing about it as I have not ACTUALLY missed a game yet. Just surprised myself by finding on Tuesday evening (yesterday) that I had been unaware the time for Saturday's game had been moved forward by 90 minutes.
I would probably have found out before the weekend - for example when chatting to the lad who sits next to me at The Riverside, when I go to The Battered Badger this evening, or seeing the time mentioned on the BBC Sport App when I look at which other games are being played this weekend, or even by seeing reference to the kick-off on this Blog!
Well, Kim Hellberg seemed content in his post-match interview. No injuries (unless I missed something), another goal by Sarmiento which means he has started this season rather better than he finished the last one, some newbies given a run out to get more time into the legs, and even a suggestion that the manager doesn't want Strelec to leave. I am not sure about my views on that last one.
I think if last Springtime Boro had a choice of Conway, Joseph and Will Lankshear up front we'd have faced the run-in to the season with more confidence (and it would have been justified). Just a FEW extra goals to convert draws into wins etc. and Wembley would not have been necessary.
Suggestions in social media that one or two incoming might complete the squad before the Transfer Window closes. The real thing is to get the players on Boro's books playing up to their potential and putting the finishing touches to balls in the opposition Penalty Area. All things remain possible from here.

Popping in for a quick insight.
I can only base my views on what I’ve seen, which to be fair isn’t a great deal, but I’m kind of delighted. Our new front men delivered, or continued to deliver, the goods and Jeremy Sarmiento really appears to have found himself - when I saw his goal it looked even better than I imagined it would, a reflection of someone who had both the confidence and the audacity to lob the goalkeeper first time when they likely wouldn’t have last season.
Near the end of 2025-26 it looked like Sarmiento was overly cautious and unsure of what his role was supposed to be. It’s now logical to conclude that he was tossed into a highly pressurised promotion-chasing cauldron while his football identity was transitioning. It’s apparent he needed time to adapt and find belonging which we couldn’t really give him - back in January the desire was for someone with an immediate spark à la Will Lankshear rather than one which gradually develops. He is now visibly being trusted as the No. 10 and is all the better for it, as we are.
As for our late concession, it was disappointing but I’m thinking little of it. We were already three up, the pressure was off and goal difference doesn’t matter in the cup.
No, it’s not a perfect start and there is room for improvement, but - three wins out of four, seven goals scored, with four for our new front man and two from our No 10? I think many would be happy with that.

I have seen the Doncaster goal again for a couple of times. I think their player run on to Phillips and it should have been a free kick for us.@jarkko he (AP) still clearly not march fit. He was at fault for Doncaster's goal. But I agree with you.
Anyway, if Ashley keeps himfelf fit, he will be more useful than crocked Fry. I loved the lstter, but he was too often away during the past two years.

Well, you can only say that Mr Gibson is really giving it a go and hopefully handing the right tools and sufficient of them, for Hellberg to go on further than last season.
As hard as it is for me, the final failure at Wembley still sticks, combined with the wheels falling off in the last fifteen league games or so.
Still it is a new season, not the best of starts, but if Hellberg can produce a consistent team that is as good as the parts, then looking at the squad we have to date, maybe we will be in with a shout.
Mr Hellberg, it is up to you to put a smile on our faces.
@jarkko - I saw/heard that link to the possible signing on YouTube. I think one thing we can be sure of is that this player, even if he is REALLY good, will hardly hold a candle to Ferenc Puskas - one of football's all-time greats. No doubt Pep G would say Puskas wasn't athletic enough, not fast enough around the field etc. Like saying that Messi doesn't do a lot of covering back. Yeah, but look at all the things he DOES do well.
It would be an interesting signing.
