Thanks for the link. Started off quite well (apart from the cringeworthy - but inevitable - Yank pronunciation of "Middlesbrough" - spelling unforgivable, though!), but went downhill once the lads started talking about their respective World Cup experiences. At least their respective hearts appear to be in the right place.
I think one of the most positive features of this transfer window so far is that all the new recruits are permanent signings as opposed to loan deals; to my mind we have been over dependent in the past on loans, which has led to high turnover and lack of stability within the team.
Hopefully, this is part of the new operating model evolving and that we will see fewer and fewer loans in the future.
I am also pleased to see that the club have been able to move on Burgzorg and Sene and with the likes of Gilbert, Silvera and Barlaser having left at the end of their contracts, the club are hopefully building a squad of players who are of the right standard and consistency.
My hopes and optimism are building rapidly. 😎

Vitek arrived on Teesside yesterday, whereas Phillips, if he hasn't already, will be arriving soon.

Not too worried Boro have missed out on Moore a young untried 18 year old.
The signings of a tried and tested Championship centre back from Spurs is the type of player needed. Plus the new goalkeeper , not quite as experienced , I think, should be a decent purchase although I have a bit of sympathy for Sol Bryn. Ok , he made a serious error in the playoff but I remember similar mistakes by goalkeepers in the World Cup.
A striker missing a couple of sitters doesn’t usually get the same adverse criticism as a goalkeeper .
I am not expecting a super performance on Friday due to the missing unfit players and some not being match fit and being on the bench.

Time to catch a breath after the most successful transfer window in living memory…and there are still three weeks to go to massage the squad. To be honest, we could stop now and rely on what we have, particularly if some of the academy players step up.
In an ideal world we could do with a really pace winger and perhaps an experienced midfielder - think Alan Browne. Other than that, it’s only about offloading players through sale or loan with Dieng the most important to get off the payroll, at least partially.

We currently have 28 first team players and if Vitek and Philips sign we would be up to 29. The current 28 includes McLaughlin, who has just resigned so I assume he is not going, and Hamilton who is definitely going.So a minimum of 3 have to go in this window and probably a couple more if we are going for Premier League loans nearer the end of the window. Dieng has to be one, as does Edmundson. I never saw why we were so desperate to sign him under Carrick.
There appears to be a recognition that it’s better to get players in sooner rather than waiting until the deadline - it takes time for players to settle in and often ten games have gone before they’re ready to even start a game - let alone build understandings with teammates.
Enjoyed the video from Paul with the three American lads - it demonstrates that they’re keen and want to be at Boro with a good positive attitude and drive to succeed. It should definitely lift the dressing room spirit!
Internet rumours, that Hull have jumped in for Phillips.
@pedro I can find nothing on Hull trying to sign Ashley Phillips and it is reported that he due to have his medical at the Riverside after both clubs agreed the deal.

Just seen that Burgzorg, has only joined PNE on a one season loan with an option to buy. Not an obligation.
As he still has two years left on his contract, he could be back a t Rockcliffe next summer. 🙁

Whilst it is quite possible that we still need an Alan Browne replacement to cover midfield - and everywhere else except goalkeeper and centre forward - it seems from Kim Hellberg's comments that Aidan Morris will definitely be available next week as will Myles Peart Harris and we will also have Abdoulay Kante to call on. Kante was only unavailable due to having reached 5 red cards during his play-off exploits in France. There may still be a player in there as is shown by the fact that he's been given a squad number.
On top of these, we have Law McCabe and Fin Cartwright from the list of Academy players.
Looking at the whole squad we may have a lot more flexibility than we previously thought. Under the EFL rules, U-21 permanent players are not counted. Under 21 is measured on January 1 in the year that the season starts and runs for the whole season. That means that Lankshear, Castledine, Monroe and Kante are all U-21 for this season as well as the academy players with numbers, Ibeh, Dede, Daley, McCabe, McCormick and Cartwright.
That means that only 20 of the 30 players count towards the 25-man squad. Happy for someone to check my research but this would be a great outcome and a great commentary on the recruitment team and our future potential.

Going back to imminent transfers, or not, one media outlet is saying MFC purchase of Ashley Phillips has stalled, due to negotiation disagreements.
The NE and the Gazette, also now saying the transfer has been paused due to incomplete negotiations.
@pedro Some reports suggest there was something found in his medical, why are transfer posts put in the Caraboa Cup file 🤔.

A deal had been agreed worth an initial £7m, and Phillips had travelled to Teesside to complete the move, which was expected to be announced over the weekend.
The Mail are reporting that there has been an issue found in Phillips' medicaly, and say Boro are therefore trying to re-negotiate with Spurs, with potential for a loan, which includes an obligation being explored instead.
At this stage though, it must be stressed that is gossip and not something that our sources have verified.
What we have been told is that the deal, at this stage is not off, but just on pause.
We'll await further details/developments on that one.
WHERE IS HE NOW ?
I am wondering what happened to the young left winger who, I think, came from non league down south, who had a bit of pace and scored a few goals and was good at tracking back to help his full back.
He had an excellent relationship with Matt Crooks. He had a very good first season and then fell away a bit. I’m sure he was transferred to a lower division team down south about 3-5 years ago.

Jones was given his debut by Neil Warnock who played him as a left-winger but when Chris Wilder took over he converted him to a right wing-back. He subsequently ended up becoming predominantly a right-sided forward under Carrick and was often unplayable - though after he picked up an injury in early 2024 never really came back the same player and was sold the following summer.
@johnny-canuck. He was but we also used him on the left. Perhaps I am mistaken and you and Phillip are thinking of another player. 😎
There was briefly a chap around that Warnock era called Olusanya who I think might have come from non-league with Isaiah Jones but I don’t recall him making much of a splash and don’t think we sold him to a team down south.
