Good discussion and analysis on here following the despair of the QPR game. I agree with the consensus that we have the resources within the squad to avoid relegation.  The question is does Mr Warnock yet recognise what we, with our  greater historical experience of the strengths and weaknesses of the group, understand all too well.

It doesn't look like it.  He's gone with the old sweats again, too many of whom are serial disappointments. How many more times do Friend and Johnson have to display their defensive frailties? Or Britt his current lack of goalscoring form. What does our most exciting, young, energetic, goalscoring midfielder have to do to get a start? Or our best holding midfielder? Or (in my view) our best centre back (Moukoudi)? I assume Roberts is not fully fit, since there can be no other excuse for his not starting.

Here's hoping for a half decent performance, and some credit is due for going with 2 strikers, but the auguries could and should have been so much better.

Ever the optimist, I'll go for 0-0

@lenmasterman

i agree with all you say.  Not enough pace or creativity in the side for a match that surely is a must win.  Can’t see us scoring so 2-0 to Millwall and the edge of the chasm looming up ahead.

Looks like a reversion to the successful tactic at Stoke and inexplicably ditched for the Hull game. Two strikers running the channels for the long balls behind the defenders. Very little midfield creativity, though they may be capable of carrying out a relatively primitive hoofball tactic to willing runners.  And at least Britt might be facing the right way, towards the opponents' goal, for a change.

Some odd choices there. It makes me think there have been various issues behind the scenes. I guess Warnock subscribes to the first rule of football which is not to get beaten. This looks much more like the kind of team I expected from him before the first match.

It's not the kind of team to get me excited but I don't get to see what happens off the pitch. For whatever reason, Warnock seems not to trust Wing, Coulson, Tav or Moukoudi.

Well so far a better and more solid performance than QPR.  I would like to see a similar performance in the second half and would be content with a point and a clean sheet. 😎

Solid enough so far.  Millwall not so formidable without the crowd behind them. No great quality on display from either team, but we are playing with good spirit and giving as good as we get. I still fancy my 0-0 on the evidence so far.

At least it was a solid-looking first half from Boro with the back three but not a lot of creativity from midfield or indeed up front. Set-plays have been the source of most of the attacking threat with just that McNair strike from the free-kick on target. Spence has looked dangerous and Johnson has delivered a couple of decent balls but Britt doesn't really look on the pace for me. Shotton is having a good game and Fry has also looked better than of late. Looks like one goal would be enough for either side to make three points - hopefully it's Boro who get them.

Solid appears to be a popular word so far 🙂

btw Despite it being only a Wednesday afternoon, I was prompted by the drinks break to go to the fridge for a bottle of Czech Tyskie, which has been my highlight of the first half...

We have mastered the flow of the game and looked the better team. But no goals or a penalty to show. But this is half time now.

Hope we continue in the same way. Committed display so far. Up the Boro!
