@exmil.  Belated birthday wishes Exmil and thanks for all the work you do on the challenge.

Thanks also for the link to the MFC website confirming the excellent news that 19,000 have signed up to a season ticket for 2023/2024 already.

After what we have all experienced over the last five/six seasons, this is a clear indication the the club are getting things right both on and off the field; long may it continue.  😎

Burnley 0 Sunderland 0, the first shock of the weekend I don’t think anyone had this down as anything other than an home win.

Come on BORO.

@ Clive Hurren

It’s imperative that Boro win today as I can’t see the Blades failing to win at Carrow Road as the Canaries have already lost 6 times at home this season plus twice more in FA Cup ties, whilst Sheffield United must be as confident as Boro following their FA Cup run.

However who would have given credence that their near neighbours the Wednesday Owls having gone on such a long unbeaten run, have taken only one point during the international break from their 3 successive away matches at Barnsley, Forest Green and Cheltenham?

Maybe there’s something about the steel city air that’s given Sheffield folk the jitters, but then what do I know?

Exmil, deepest apologies for missing your magnificent completion, and I really mean the plaudit, because it's brilliant that you're willing to put in the time to give us an interest at the end of the season, this season being even more interesting.  Sadly (sadly?), the day after we dispatched PNE I was hijacked by Mrs. PPP on to a flight out of Perth to Singapore, Bangkok and Koh Samui and then return, I'm currently sat in Changi awaiting the last leg of the journey.  I've been out of touch WiFi wise and otherwise engaged with things of a water and sand nature, so I'm having to bow out of the Exmil, Newbould's Midget Pork Pie Sponsored 2023 Trophy, and wish everyone else the best of good fortune, I've just had mine over the last couple of weeks.

Prediction tonight, of which I'll be greeted by when I step off the plane in Perth at 23:50pm, is for Boro four, the others scrambling for what they can get, it's amazing what a few Singha's can do for your optimism.

@peasepudinperth I remember Singha beer from when I was stationed in Hong Kong for two years in 85-87.

I remember it from the last time I had a meal in the Viceroy restaurant in Leyland. Nowhere near as exotic!

Two changes for Boro: McNair and Ramsey for Fry and McGree.

Well as expected Huddersfield/NW with 11 men behind the ball and Boro needing to be patient as they probed to find an opening, which they deservedly have done.

Now all about game management and looking to exploit the gaps which must open up as Huddersfield have to try and get back into this.  CoB 😎

So far so good. Boro by far the better team with Lenihan having most of the ball coming into midfield. I’d like to see the midfielders making the pass to the forwards. Excellent skill by Ramsay leading up to the goal. Good opportunist goal by Forss- I like his direct play.

S second goal and its all over .

The only downside is McNair who is not good in the air.

Otherwise I’m here with the Town supporters , I’m loving it !!
Philip from Huddersfield- but a Boro supporter!’

A patient and controlled first half from Boro who deservedly lead 1-0.

Am with Phillip above - another Boro goal and it’s over.

Oh what a mess! 1-1 after a defensive shambles straight from the kick off.  Got it all to do again. 😎

And it gets worse 2-1. More sloppy defending against a team who have been scoring less than a goal a game! 😎

What is going on? I took the Terrier out and we were winning 0-1, I get back and it's 3-1! Bloody hell, Sheffield will be happy at what I'd hate to call "Typical Boro". Can we at least play for a draw?

UTB,

John

That was even worse than Typical Boro. Sheffield United win means 2nd place hopes gone. Burnley next week. Can we avoid a Typical Boro end to the season and even stay in the playoffs? Test for Carrick.

Is this Carricks first real test, isn't the sign of a good manager that they can inspire their teams to overcome these blips, Colin definitely has the voodoo sign over us, although we were our own worst enemies today

Come on, we are ten points in front of Norwich who are seventh. And there are seven matches to go.

We just need to bring Fry back and tell Smith to play in his real position. The latter tried to be a forward today.

Up the Boro!

And this why I am really concerned over the play offs. As I have often said, the Boro back five are relatively poor. The midfield did not get a tackle in at any time for their three goals. And why McNair over Fry?

Well no one saw that coming, especially at halftime, Utd winning at Norwich rubbed salt in the wound. Like a few others, I do not like to see McNair playing when Fry is fit and available, I think he is weak defensively. Is it all over 🤔 who knows but after a second half performance like that and no team will be worried about playing us in the playoffs. Can we bounce back on Friday against Burnley, I know we have in the past but it was always against teams we expected to beat, this will be a true test.

Come on BORO.

At last Hartlepools came back from an early goal down to beat Swindon Town, and their 3 points today might yet save them from relegation as they are now only 2 points adrift of Crawley Town and have yet to play the Sussex based side at home.

I would even suggest that their need for 3 points today outweighed Boro’s need for a win today. I wasn’t surprised that the Blades won at Norwich as I suggested that earlier, and not altogether surprised that Huddersfield beat Boro today. It was always a tall order for Boro to gain automatic promotion, but our defence often gives me the jitters.

Boro should still finish 3rd or 4th provided they don’t play as badly in their remaining 7 matches, but no more slip-ups to lower ranked sides from now on.
