@martin-bellamy - I am old enough to say that I CAN remember quartered pages of the Daily Mirror and the Sunday People, attached with a ring of string though a hole (in the corner) to a hook on the wall of our outside toilet when I was a child. We did later have what I see is often now referred to as "toilet tissue" but I still remember those squares of newspaper, which we'd scrunch up before using. I won't go into more detail...
Ah, the good old days! We had an outside loo in Grove Hill. It was usually absolutely freezing.
I’m a member of the tofu-eating, Guardian-reading wokerati, too, Martin! Like you, I read the digital Guardian every day, though I tend to select what I read from the headlines. I also dip into the digital Independent most days. Personally, I would be loathe to use the Torygraph (or the Mail, Express or Sun) as toilet paper - I’m sure they’re very absorbent, but I’d be worried about the contamination I’d get.
I think we’re on the same page(s). 😉
Me too, the same.
