Just watching his show on GB news and he asks some pertinent questions about our PM….

Personally I like him and so does Mrs OFB Otherwise known and she who must be obeyed !!!!

OFB

I do agree with him when he says Brexit has failed. Other than that he’s an odious man.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a debate on merits of Nigel Farage - definitely a marmite character but then again it seems to be successful in politics these days politicians are almost deliberately engineering marmite personalities as it's almost impossible to appeal to more than one side of the argument now. The alternative appears to be to say nothing controversial that risks taking a view that may alienate one side or the other.

Basically, being opinionated wins the votes of those who share them - having no strong opinions hopefully doesn't lose votes. I think the vast majority of people are weary of the distraction politics and are uninspired by those who show no conviction or vision. People just want solutions and at the moment it's hard to see any credible ones being voiced - unless you believe in nostalgia and remember better times and want them back.

Unfortunately, there's little chance of turning back the clock in isolation - the world is a different place than it was 20, 30 or 40 years ago and is ever changing. We really have to deal with the problems and challenges of today and not wish them away. Hard to see what solutions Brexit is going to offer nor is it clear how the UK could have continued indefinitely with just one foot in the EU while the rest further integrated.

Still there's no going back now and the lesson is probably don't hold a referendum on a big issue unless you've got a plan for each outcome. As Spike Milligan would say "What do we do now... What do we do now..."

As I have just posted on the "Next season's Transfers" thread, I am willing to join the group of members who are prepared to post thread-starters before next season's games.  Hopefully there will be a decent number of us posting the starters so it won't be as onerous to us next season as it must have been last season for AndyR and OFB. So long as we know how many of us there are, and which matches we are expected to provide an opener for, that should allow us to get it all together in time.

But as I also said on the other thread, my contributions will make the various members realise how lucky we have been, to be able to rely on those who have carried the burden so far in recent seasons.  I might have to send an email with my "piece" attached because I am to IT what our last pet cat was to nuclear physics, but I should be able to put some thoughts together for an occasional/regular Boro football essay.

(Since you asked, our last PAIR of cats was a Norwegian Forest Cat called Binks and a Maine Coon called Bairstow - after David rather than Jonny.  After they departed this mortal coil, the cattery was occupied by the cats belonging to my niece who stayed with us whilst studying at Newcastle University:  Ginger and Biscuit.  Niece now has her own place on Tyneside as she completes her post graduate Child Psychology course.  The cattery, or at least the covered cat run attached to the cat hut, is currently occupied by logs awaiting a fiery end next winter).

Great stuff and look forward to reading your pieces next season.

As you have my email I don’t mind posting on your behalf if you send it to me and also don’t mind organising a rota of posters who are willing to do the lead for games.

Andy has said he is willing to do posts as part of the Diasboro team so if those who are interested let me know I’ll do a rota and set it up for next season.

If anyone has any preferences for any opposition teams to do a post for them mmm let me know as well.

email me with your contact details to and agreement to be part of the lead post squad !

I’ll happily do a game - maybe PNE or Wigan, as I may be able take the view of opposition fans in advance of the game.
