Just seen that Brighton have signed an 18 year old winger from Sweden for 21.5 million pounds who has played 18 games of senior football and clubs want to buy HH for 10 million? Also there are rumours here in Australia that clubs are interested in Nestory Irakunda, Watford winger, with 20 million being quoted for him, and he is not a regular starter for Watford. He went from Bayern Munich to Watford and Bayern put in a 50% sell on clause to the transfer.

I think that is always the aim, unfortunately we have a dreadful record against them and with Mogga back in charge it won’t be any easier! 😎
They are our ultimate bogey team in 25 games, league and cup, at the Riverside we have won 5, and two of those were before the year 2000. The last home win was in 2012.

I think next season is going to be one of the hardest in recent memory, most clubs will expect to finish top eight , we can't be signing projects, three or four solid proven players we should be looking at, I think some clubs will be spending big ,
We do have squad and coach a year on with each other, so that's a plus, but something has to be done with players who are too inconsistent , it can't be excused.

I'm not thinking too much about football players at the moment, but I AM drinking some wines from Puglia that I've recently discovered in our local liquor stores in BC.
They appear to be more reasonably priced than wine from other areas of Italy.
What are you quaffing?
@johnny-canuck I have a taste for Primotivo from the Puglia area of southern Italy. Genetically identical to Zinfandel, grown mostly I believe in California.
I have friends though that think the latter especially is sweet, which is strange for a red wine, however fruity I can understand.
When I buy Primotivo, if possible and within budget, I buy the superior (IMO) DOCG accreditation. Excellent when we have pasta.
My better half cannot drink red wine, but does like Italian. Good quality Pinot Grigio or Soave Superior. Her favourite wines though are NZ Sauvignon Blanc.
After reading your response, I went down a rabbit hole to find out more about what I'm drinking, and if I ever knew that Primitivo and Zinfandel were originally from a Croatian grape, I had forgotten.
Some Puglian wine I bought a month a go is labelled as Zinfandel (which at the time I thought was surprising), and the latest bottle as Primitivo. Both are labelled Indicazione Geografica Protetta, which is not such a high ranking as the DOCG to which you refer. Perhaps that’s why they are more reasonably priced. Overall, I find Italian wines where I live to be much more expensive than wines from other countries, so it’s necessary to shop carefully.
Although both wines have the same heritage, I do think that Californian Zinfandels are sweeter than Italian Primitivos. Mind you, I haven’t tasted any California wines since most (all??) Canadian government liquor stores removed American alcohol from the shelves after Trump’s outrageous reference to Canada becoming/being the 51st State and hitting us with unjustified tariffs on most of what we sell to the U.S.
Luckily, my wife drinks both red and white wine, and NZ Sauvignon Blanc is her favourite too.

We’ve indulged on the local dry white, which seems to use the Chardonnay grape. I wouldn’t normally drink Chardonnay as it’s often a little fruity for my taste, but the Puglia ones seem more flinty. Off to get the bus to Alberobello soon to visit the Trulli houses.

Elsewhere, experienced striker Jordan Hugill is back at Hartlepool United after the 34-year-old former loanee signed a one-year deal - the first signing of the summer.
Hugill, who worked with new head coach Lee Clark during his short spell as boss at Rotherham United at the end of last season, has penned a one-year deal and the club has an option for a further year. Hugill has made more than 450 senior appearances, scored 94 career goals and recorded more than 300 Championship appearances and played in the Premier League.

As each day goes by I think that the world of football has gone mad. Following Brighton's 21.5 million signing of an 18 year old, according to the BBC, Newcastle are signing a 20 year old keeper from the French Second Division for 18 million pounds. Not sure how we can compete with clubs with that sort of spending ability.

There has been rumours about his departure on Town sites for awhile. Most of the talk was that he was going to Fulham. Some bookies had him as 1/5 favourite to take over there. I think he does not want to have a second, possible, relegation on his CV. Remember they only won 4 games in there last Premier League season and only one at home.
