I could have gone for Ayala but it would have been laid up in the garage over Xmas & New Year.
The team are weaker today without its best 2 midfielders. Plus its a test for Brynn on his debut having to play with defenders he’s not accustomed to.
I’m hoping McGree and Conway get time on the pitch and it may be an afternoon for Fry to appear. Just hope it’s not a day when defensive mistakes are made on a far from pleasant playing surface.
I am not optimistic with these changes of a win and so I’ll settle for a draw now.

Phillip, when have you been optimistic (I must have missed it) 😂😂😂.The team are weaker today without its best 2 midfielders. Plus its a test for Brynn on his debut having to play with defenders he’s not accustomed to.

The Us draw first blood in the 24th minute. 🙁

CJ:
Boro don't deal with with the deep corner and it comes back central with Leigh unmarked on the penalty spot to fire the hosts into the lead.
ELL equalises for Boro from the penalty spot in the 37rh minute (bad foul on young Doak)! 🙂
And then Azaz gives Boro the lead in the 42nd minute with a little help from ELL
1-2. UTB
I have been to e Battered Badger a few times. I am proud to say I met a gentleman there who teached me a lot of my English. Small world. And if Jarkko went to the Battered Badger and asked someone at the bar about his use of the genetive, he'd get mostly odd or confused looks. (I'd have said SKUs as well)..
The gentleman in question was your neighbour, who used to play for one of the Mancurian clubs. While there - and also the Scottish National team - he was also writing a blog regularly in Shoot! magazine. And me and my younger brother used to read the magazine in our teens. Hence learning better English, too.
Before he died of dementia recently, I was happy I was able to say him thanks for his writing in Shoot! while I visited the Battered Badger after a Boro match. A great coach for Boro, too.
Up the Boro!
And then Azaz gives Boro the lead in the 42nd minute with a little help from ELL
ELL then makes it Boro3 in the 45th minute, Azaz returning the favour. 🙂

A quickfire third! The game had barely restarted and Boro have another. Latte Lath receives the ball in between the two defenders and turns to finish clinically. Oxford furious. Having felt it shouldn't have been a penalty, they feel this one is offside.
Well having looked as if it was going to be one of those days and going 1-0 down we roar back to lead 1-3. Not our best performance but as long as we take the three points then I for one will be happy.
Definitely a penalty and LL was onside for his second. Sol Brynn looking composed and has made some excellent saves, if not for him we could have conceded a second.
No silly mistakes in the second half please. 😎
Well after a few early chances Boro seemed to take a while to get going in that first half with the intensity going forward not quite there and although they looked comfortable not much was happening.
After Oxford scored it was a different Boro and back to where they left off against Luton - Latte Lathe looking back to his clinical best and Burgzorg also full of energy.
Was worried when dangerous Doak was cleaned out for the pen and the defender probably lucky not to see red for an out of control sliding tackle. With Azaz also playing well and scoring, the front four all looking good.
Still not been convinced by Howson today and he looks a bit off it - as does Clarke - though Sol Brynn had done well in goal.
Oxford can have no complaints about the penalty, it was close to being a red card too. Boro 3 goals in 8 minutes turned this game on its head, although I didn’t think we deserved to be behind, also I think Brynn is playing really well. Great to see Lath on the goal trail again.
Come on BORO.
Boro up to fifth in the table as things stand, two points behind the Dirties, who have played one game fewer.
CJ at half-time:
Boro lead at the break and, on the balance of play, it's deserved. Great response to going behind, and another emphatic display in attack to end that half. Oxford fans not happy. No replays here, but that penalty looked as blatant you're likely to see. Impossible from my angle to see if Latte Lath was off for the third, but Boro deservedly lead.
What are the odds for Latte Lath to score a hat trick? He has had a brace and two other, equally good chances to score.
And we have Tommy Conway on the bench, too.
Life is good. Boro3. Up the Boro!
Didn't take long to get the hat trick!
And now it's 1-4 in the 49th minute, with ELL bagging his hat-trick, assisted yet again by Azaz!
Maybe at 4-1 up time to sub Doak to rest him for midweek and avoid him picking uo his 5th yellow.

Forss duly replaces Doak & Conway ELL in the 62nd minute.
BBC reporting that we’re now the top scorers in the Championship with 27 goals. Our Goal Difference isn’t so good though.
2-4. They wouldn’t do it to us would they?
2-5 - Tommy Conway gets in the act in the 80th minute, assisted by McGree. 🙂
