@tupaia_heligo

Welcome to Disboro and welcome to a fellow northerner in Germany 😏

Ok, my first question is the origin of your username tupaia heligo - now I know of Helgoland islands in the north of Germany but my quick google of tupaia may have been a crew member of Captain Cook’s first voyage.

Anyway, welcome aboard!

@tupaia_heligo Welcome aboard TH. Good to see another new name signing on. Will look forward to hearing your thoughts as the season progresses. I might also point you to:

https://diasboro.club/forum/members-lounge/the-diasboro-cots-challenge-2026-27/

This is a small challenge we have been running for the last few seasons to see which of us is able to make the best set of predictions about how the Championship table will look at the end of the season. (Who gets promoted, relegated, in the playoffs, which position Boro will finish and so on). Take a look and I hope you will not be able to resist joining in.

btw Just noticed the system had automatically put you in the banned list - it's possible your unusual username threw up a flag as it sometimes checks for random letters in names. Anyway, I moved you back into the members list in case you were having problems viewing or accessing the site.

Good morning,

I'm a former Diasboro member now returning under my old username. My previous account went rogue a few years ago (I probably messed it up when my email address changed), anyhow I wasn't in a position back then to re-join but I am now, so here I am.

I posted fairly regularly during the AK days then became a bit disillusioned during the Monk to Wilder years, but KH has re-ignited my flame so I'm glad to be back.

UTB, Billog72.

@werdermouth You pretty much got it. Tupaia was a crew member (who doesn't get much credit), and Heligoland is the formerly British, now German, island in the North Sea. My wife's family is from a neighbouring island, and it's just a way of referencing both sides without simply going half Teesside/half North Frisia. Heligoland was swapped for Zanzibar, if I remember correctly

@powmillnaemore Thanks for the warm welcome, currently on holiday with a chance to catch up on NTT20 and the likes before I submit my (usually useless) season prediction.

Welcome back Billog72 - quite easy to get disillusioned under the Monk years and Wilder made few friends at his time on Teesside too! Life under Kim Hellberg is looking much more positive and maybe he'll do what Karanka did and get us promoted - albeit without the meltdown...

Looking forward to your contributions Billog.  Let's hope we don't see too many Bill ogs from Ayling during the season

@billog72 welcome back on board and like others, I look forward to hearing a new voice in the debate.

You may have seen that over the last few seasons we have been running a prediction challenge. COTS, or Clairvoyant Of The Year, gives us all the chance to predict how qe think the Champuonship will finish next spring. Who, gets promoted, relegated, top 6, over or under achieves, where Boro will finish.

If you would like to take part, all you need to do is post your predictions in the following format:

  • TOP 6 = Team1, Team2, Team3, Team4, Team5, Team6, Optional1, Optional2, Optional3
  • BOTTOM 3 = Team1, Team2, Team3, Optional1, Optional2, Optional3
  • AUTOMATIC PROMOTION = Team1, Team2, Optional1, Optional2
  • CHAMPIONS = Team1, Optional1
  • OVER ACHIEVER = Team1, Optional1
  • UNDER ACHIEVER = Team1, Optional1
  • BORO = 1st

You will get points for each accurate prediction. You will get more points if you avoid using the optionals... i.e. if you predict just 6 teams to finish top 6, you will get more points for each correct team than if you predicted 9 teams (on the basis it is harder to get 6 right from 6 predictions than 6 right from 9).

Full details of the scoring and how to enter are here:

https://diasboro.club/forum/members-lounge/the-diasboro-cots-challenge-2026-27/

You do need to logged in to see this, same as if you tried to write a post.

Entries need to be completed before the first game kicks off on Friday wvening at 8pm.

Hope you will take up the challenge!
