I really enjoyed last night. We’ll, to be honest, I really enjoyed it once we had equalised. Had we not done so, with Wigan suddenly on the front foot, I think the mood in our end might well have turned sour at half-time; it had already changed for the worse once Wigan scored. But how Boro turned it on in the second half! We could easily have scored a couple more. But let’s not be greedy - any away win is a good one, especially after our terrible run previously this season, and to score 4 away goals is a huge bonus. It will surely do our confidence a heap of good? Bring on Huddersfield!

A few other observations:-

1) Watmore was quite brilliant, as was Steffen.
2) After about 30 minutes of tedious stalemate, Boro fans sang, ‘How s##* must you be? We’re drawing away!’ Very funny, but not exactly likely to motivate the lads out on the field. Cue the inevitable Wigan goal, to which their fan (sic) - they don’t get many - responded with, ‘How s##* must you be? We’re winning at home!’ which was also funny, unless you were a Boro fan. However, when Duncan made it 2-1, our lot piped up again with, ‘How s*** must you be? We’re winning away!’ In each instance, the first sentence in the ditty was entirely apt!! Wigan, especially, were awful.
3) Boro fans seemed convinced Carrick had signed, launching a new song in his honour that begins, ‘We’ve got super Michael Carrick. He knows exactly what we need!’ This was sung with gusto several times. Let’s hope it wasn’t either premature or falsely optimistic.
4) Despite everything, this was a large and impressive Boro support on a cold Wednesday night in Wigan. We proudly and loudly supported the lads almost throughout. It was very pleasing to see Leo given a very good reception at the end.
5) Boro’s last away win, as noted above, was at Peterborough, where we also scored 4. My brother and I were both there that day. Last night was our first away game this season. It is clear that we made the difference: we were the decisive factor in our resurgence. Bob said we are the lucky pairing. It’s a good job we’ve both got tickets for PNE, then. It’s just that I’m not convinced his confidence will prove quite so effective there - I think he may just as well change his lucky underpants that day!

@clive-hurren I was there too - with my wife. As said it was great.

We also sang: "It is only 1 0", when we were loosing.

Been a great week until today when it started to rain. I will meet AV at Riverside tomorrow. Might get his signature for his book as well.

And thanks for Dormo. We enjoyed the night at Wigan. Up the Boro!

@jarkko - I am pleased you and Eija enjoyed Wednesday.  At the Pickled Parrot we had expected to watch some football on TV, rather than Millwall v Watford which was on offer there, whilst listening to Boro away at Wigan on BBCTees radio.  The Premier League games could NOT be seen at the pub (one was on BTSportBoxOffice behind a paywall the pub did not pay into and the other game was on AmazonPrime!!).  Luckily my mate collected his phone from the car so we were able to see a VERY small image of the ManU game against Spurs, interrupted from time to time with my shouts as the Boro scored in my left ear. Not well appreciated by the Newcastle supporter and Spurs supporter who tend to join us at the pub .on Wednesday evenings. So I didn't see much but, after half time, my ears heard sweet music as Boro won away from home.  The wine was sort of OK, too..

And yes, it has been Wet Wet Wet (not the 1980s/1990s boy band) all day Thursday in North. Yorkshire...    Hopefully it will be a little better on Friday.

And, without wishing to introduce any complications to Boro's new manager hunt but I believe Steve Gerrard has now been sacked by Aston Villa.  He could still do a job in midfield (OK, stretching a point a little there, but...).  I bet he has a lot of top contacts in the game.

Precisely the thought which crossed my mind when I hear that Stevie G had been given the order of the boot!  😉  At least he's had proper mangement experience, if not in the Champo...

Watched the game on Hesgoal.com.

Overall a poor game with neither team showing much attacking talents with both teams giving the ball away far too often. Obviously a welcome point for Huddersfield but a missed opportunity for Boro against the bottom team. It’s now 4 out of 5 away games ( I think) which gives little optimism for charging up the table with or without Mr. Carrick.

I find it amazing that if he’s  likely to become manager next week he wasn’t at today’s game and even at the game on Wednesday.

I am also surprised that the press haven’t told us what he’s been doing for the last 9 months which leaves me to think he’s done nothing work wise  - so perhaps he’s been on the golf course most of the time. If so, then it will be a big challenge to suddenly work 100% of the time.
