Interesting tweet from Anthony Vickers tonight

quote

“What's the collective noun for letters of resignation?”

make of it what you will

It's nothing to do with the Gazette - if you look at his Twitter feed it directly followed a retweet of MP Simon Clarke's resignation letter from his ministerial post in the government - maybe he's expecting more 🙂

Being AV it couldn't possibly be anything political in regards to the breaching of International Law and watching ministers squirm on the opposite side of his political affiliation surely?

Sorry, couldn’t see Mercedes finishing out side top three. But F 1 is very popular here. We found it easier to win than to qualify for a major football tournament.

Also biased towards Valtteri Bottas as I know his ex-wife and her family.

We have had four or five F 1 World Champions depending if you count Nico Rosberg. He has a Finnish passport as his father Keke is Finnish, too.

Up the Boro!

Strange.

Another player set to leave is Sam Stubbs, who is joining up with League One Fleetwood Town on a permanent deal according to The Gazette.

We need more cente backs. Up the Boro!

@jarkko

A very odd development if true. The assumption was that Stubbs was first reserve in very small pool, though Wood appears to have stepped up at this stage.

I was surprised to see Sam Stubbs has gone, Fleetwood are from what little I know a well run club. They've certainly got a good ground and training facilities. I hope it goes well for him.

With one less centre back in the squad, surely Boro are very confident of signing another?

I am in the river town of Dalyan in Turkey. Been going there for 20 years.. Go every year for six weeks. Very very safe here...

Pictures now (unofficially) online of Bettinelli and his agent and Warnock holding a "Perple" Boro Goalkeeping Jersey with his name on it. Not just any old Goalkeeping shirt but a true Teesside Perple one!

Yaya Sonogo the ex Arsenal Striker is putting pen to paper. Should be a lot cheaper than Gestede and probably just as effective but with Warnock maybe there is hope that he can get something extra out of him.

@redcarred I looked at some of the comments back from the Boro lads to AV and  they all thought he meant the Gazette resignations !

Beggars can't be choosers, I suppose, & as things stand, it looks as though Boro's been reduced (more or less) to begging... 🙁

As well as Bettinelli, we have made an official offer for Wigan Captain Sam Morsy and Sanogo has agreed terms on a free transfer and will have medical within 24 hrs. It looks like NW is adding experience and leaders to the spine of the team.

 Come on BORO.

Marcus Bettinelli, Yaya Sanogo and Sam Morsy are the latest as Neil Warnock targets treble transfer boost.

I hope we next target some defenders. I have always thought it is easier (read cheaper) to sign defenders than other players in the team. But what do I know. But we need a left-footed centre back next.

I cannot even think about injury problems like Watford have at the moment. They have ten to eleven first team players missing ...

Up the Boro!

There doesn't appear to be any access to your Watford intro.

Sorry about that - I suddenly remembered that I didn't want to use 'Preview' in the page title so it could be used post-match - I edited the page in the database to just 'watford v boro' but it seems it doesn't update an existing post.

Anyway, I've reposted it to avoid problems so the latest one should work now - I'll need to look into the technical issues of renaming

This is now the correct link (i.e. Watford v Boro - not Preview: Watford v Boro)...

The Sanogo deal seems dead in the water, presumably something showed up during his medical yesterday. It seems a strange one as he had apparently been rumoured to have been training at Rockliffe for a while. It may just be brinkmanship over the terms and amount of the contract or as is being reported elsewhere his fitness levels are not what they should be. It could also of course be that something better has come along in the meantime.

Meanwhile it looks like Morsy has forced the hands of the administrators at Wigan and seemingly wants to wear the Red of Boro and with any luck will be announced sometime today or over the weekend. While I'm delighted if we land him I do feel a tinge of sadness over the plight of Wigan and especially for their fans. I have no idea what type of squad they will have left when this is all over but I would be surprised if they can survive in League One after being ripped apart by predators.

@redcarred

Was it the same for Boro in 1986?

Ripley left, but cannot remember others as the class of 1986 is so strong in my memory. I was at Hartlepool and remember half of the players like Gary Gill, etc.

Sad days for Wigan. When did they get to the EFL, though? And the won the FA cup quite recently, too.

Up the Boro!

Looks like we have two captains signed if Morsy does sign for us. And Assombalong as a Club captain. An a new goalie from Fulham. All what we needed.

Pity we did not get Gibbo as we need a left sided CB.

Up the Boro!

  • Three leaders if we count Assombalonga, ex-captains  Hall and Morsy. So the spine is there.
  • I love the team is built around Assombalonga and Fletcher.

Up the Boro!

Well done to Blackburn signing Danni Ayala. Hope he does great. Feel gutted though that we could not keep him. What the hell happened? Same as Patrick Roberts, we should have got him back. I like Neil Warnock and hope he does well. But I feel in the case of above he has got his priorities wrong. Please prove me wrong Neil.
