Predicted scores then. Luton 0 Reading 0, Sheffield Utd 1 Fulham 1 and Preston 0 Boro 3 with the 3rd goal coming in the last minute.

Never mind being half full Ken, your cup overfloweth, and how we all hope that you are right.

I think our best hope is Fulham holding Sheffield to a draw  but I am not predicting anything today. Just praying and keeping my fingers crossed.

Ref my post about the tragic death last Saturday about former footballer Neil Campbell there is an update regarding the game today.

Andy Campbell (His Brother ex Boro) has advised that PNE have invited all the Campbell family to the game today at the clubs expense as a sign of remembrance.

Truly Football overcomes all and is a wonderful social healer.

@Ken-Smith

I hope your predictions come true as that would mean Boro finish 5th! Unfortunately, I've still got that underwhelming feeling ahead of the game, the one that usually is a portent of a nil-nil. Hope it's just the remnants of disbelief that Boro are potentially about to make the play-offs.

Anyway, not long to wait now - thankfully, I managed to make my excuses when Mrs Werder announced that our son has a friendly Handball game at 13:00 as we normally go to watch - the only handball I'm interested in seeing today is in the 90th minute in the Preston box to give Boro a pen and a 3-0 score!

Team News: Well it looks like Boro's strongest line-up with McNair returning for Peltier...

Well Diasborians it’s crunchie time not lunch time !

We’re Bounty score and hope we get a lucky break or a Kit Kat !

Lets Hope Jones has plenty of Twix down the wing. if we win I’ll have a good Snicker afterwards.I’ll not only be over the Milkie Way, I’ll be over Mars bar none.

Our Yorkie manager will make sure that we get a grip of the game by the Curly Wurlys and Fry’s third goal will be the cream bar none of the afternoon.

Promotion beckons and a tour of Middlesbrough on a Double Decker would put us all on a different Galaxy.

Lets be Smartie and say Cheerios to the Champinship.

As usual you'll need to close the pop-up windows and tabs - note to get the full-screen and volume controls you'll need to first double-click on the bottom of the screen and then close the pop-up

Boro poor overall with Tav being his frustrating self. Boro not in the game really. All to do starting with scoring two goals now.

Well, we’ve blown it haven’t we.

At least Sheff Utd and Luton are both winning, so it doesn’t really matter anyway.

So far, so very typical Boro:  Preston 2 (the second a Fry OG) Boro 0 at half-time, not to mention a yellow card for Paddy & one for Luke Daniels (+ one for PNE).  And just to rub salt in the wound:  Sheff U 3 Fulham 0.  Bye bye all hopes of the play-offs.  🙁

Well everything not exactly going to plan - Boro have shown little composure or quality on the ball in what has been a performance in homage to their Hull one. The worry is that in theory this is Boro's best XI but there's nothing to show their best is remotely good enough. Unfortunately, the bench hasn't really got much in the way of better options to change the game. Maybe a rocket from Wilder at half-time will improve matters as the travelling Boro army have been short-changed by that display. Though with Sheff Utd out of sight and Luton winning, Boro need to score three after failing to have a shot on target and hope Reading feel like spoiling Luton's party.

At least I now know I can start saving for my Riverside Live pass and another season in the Championship.

Typical Boro, when the going gets tough we run away! 😎

Vic's half-time verdict:

HT: Two down. Both self inflicted. Poor defending. Could've been a few more too. Second best Boro started slowly, lacked shape, tempo & belief. Nervous. Preston sharper, quicker. Results elsewhere going against us too. Need changes to shape/attitude.

Sorry folks for being so possitive, Boro now need a 4 goal turnaround now  with Luton winning. One word to describe Boro today - ABJECT. May as well watch the Rugby League Challenge Cup Semifinals now.

My Boro Live feed has frozen several times and have needed to restart the MFC site - same happened with the last game too.

I'm listening to it on the radio, completely unprepared, no drive, no wish to take part in a fight, no plan, the same error repeated again and again, giving them a shot at goal, one was bound to go in the net, and it did. No sign of change, either of tactics, or effort. We shall see what changes he makes at half time (should have happened before the First goal). One has to ask? Are they serious about Promotion? This is a very poor Preston side and we haven't had a kick, they look like Real Madrid, and we look like Madrid Academicals. Forget being philosophical, there is no excuse for two left feet. Will he at last bring on the kid, and start putting the ball in the box in the air, that is at least a plan.

And no sooner does he do that than the Dane, Jakobsen, bags a third for PNE!  🙁

Unfortunately Werder mine hasn’t frozen so I have seen all of the unfolding nightmare!

CW’s shopping list is getting longer - need to add a keeper to it. 😎

Daniels has been highly suspect today. He’s clearly ok as a reserve to play the odd game but he can’t maintain a reasonable level for 5 games +.

Well as Werder said, this is arguably Boro’s best side and they are been given a football lesson by PNE.

Boro have offered virtually nothing and I really do wonder if the Boro and their Recruitment Team can realistically produce a Squad and Team to challenge in the top half never mind the top six.

I also believe that Mr Wilder has to take some criticism for his tactics and whether as Werder alluded to recently, he can reinvent himself.

Paddy sent off a minute before Jakobsen got his second & Preston's fourth...  Before that, Balogun, Coburn & Connolly came on for Sporar, Watmore & Dijksteel respectively.  Boro lead the yellow card count by 5 to 3.  What a shambles!

Yellow cards now up to 6 + 1 red.  Does that mean MFC will be charged by the authorities for failing to control their players?😎

I’m hoping the Warriors perform better at Leeds, Ken. 🤞🏻

Well, I did mention that I had an underwhelming feeling before the game and Boro didn't disappoint with that performance. In the end 4-1 probably flattered Boro - though at least Paddy McNair ensured I did see some handball but he could have easily been sent off twice in that game - plus Crooks was lucky to escape with a yellow after a two-footed lunge.

Two positives - the Boro support of course who were easily MOM and not making the play-offs didn't allow the obvious cracks to be papered over. Looks like a major rebuild needed to make the leap from play-off contenders to promotion contenders. We need goal scorers and someone who can actually play centre-forward, we lack midfield creativity and despite Jones having a decent season, the question is whether he can improve his final pass - likewise on the other side, the final ball is lacking. A new keeper also needed and defensively Boro have not looked solid, plus the midfield hasn't provided service to the forwards.

Wilder also not immune and as Pedro mentioned, a Plan B is needed when teams work out how to play against the only real plan.

Anyway, a disappointing end to the season but it turned out to be academic since both Sheff Utd and Luton won - though we didn't exactly put any pressure on them as news filtered through that Boro were out of the equation!

Add failing to control the ball to that charge sheet!
