I’d love to be involved but uncertainty about the timing of our house move back to the correct side of the Pennines and an upcoming Highland holiday in October may rule me out. I’ll keep an eye on arrangements and let you know nearer the time.

Mrs OFB has just owned up that she and our family have arranged a surprise golden wedding trip away to Scotland for her and I which was delayed by COVID as we were married in October over 50 years ago.

I’ve had to message Jarkko and let him know that unbeknown to me I’m not even going to see the Boro during the period he is here !

I suppose I’d better go on the trip otherwise I’d be looking for a new wife !

Congratulations OFB, albeit a bit late 😉.

Where in Scotland will you be coming. We live in Perth these days  do if you were anywhere near by it would be great to be able to meet you.

Me and MrsPowmillNaemore celebrate our 26th anniversary today. Where did that time go? All of it has been wonderful  even the harder times when looking back. Wouldn't have wanted to be with anyone else.

As for October  we will be in Majorca for the first half of the month. I haven't spoken to Mrs PN yet  but I just might possibly be able to get down from Scotland to see the Huddersfield game on 22nd October, so would be game to meet anyone anywhere.

Let us know as soon as possible and I will get myself organised...

E ba gum (Yorkshire dialect, but also Mugabe in reverse for the uninitiated), stage 4 of the Tour of Britain Cycle Race starting on level ground from Redcar Esplanade via Saltburn and eventually down Lythe Bank and the Hart Hotel in Sandsend, one of my favourite watering holes. Then via Whitby and the tough climbs for the cyclists through Robin Hood’s Bay, up Egton Bank, Newgate Bank and especially Carlton Bank via the entrance to Cringle Moor where the road is so narrow and then mostly downhill via the entrance to Rievaulx Abbey down to the beautiful market town of Helmsley and the finish at Duncombe Park.

Now that I’m unable to drive far, it was a real tonic for me to see the North York Moors in all its majestic beauty probably for the last time. I’m not surprised at the grimaces on the faces of the cycists, and little wonder that whenever  I used to drive through this area I always noticed cars with a Dutch registration number plate.

How lucky I’ve lived so near this countryside, the best in England in my opinion with so many pretty villages to explore and see once again probably for the last time. Pity though that Thomas Pidcock a Yorkshireman from Leeds was just pipped at the finishing line by Spain’s Gonzalo Serrano Rodriguez, but nevertheless congratulations to the cyclist from Madrid on his win.
