Get in 0-1 should be 0-3! 😎

Currently up to fifth in the table.  Same number of points as the Robins, but a better GD.

Well all to do now after such a promising start against a very average side.  We fail to take two golden opportunities and then let in two poor goals!

NW needs to put a rocket under them as we should not be losing. There really is three points for the taking but what are the odds on us scoring three goals in a match two matches running!

Phillip was right, they really are posing us a different challenge. 😎

I am sorry to say that after that second half performance we got what we deserved, which was nothing.  Too many players just did not turn up to day and overall it was probably one of the worst performances of the season.

I am not sure that the penalty was a penalty and having been given a gift and got back into the game it was criminal to then concede again.  We looked like a team who had run out of ideas/steam.

Good luck to RR in trying to pick a MoTM as no one really stood out.

I just hope the bubble has not burst and we can get back on track.  Looks as if the one thing that NW has not solved is "typical boro" because that's what that was given our previous performances.

If NW had a sleepless night after the Norwich game then he has another one coming up! 😞😎

The problem is, if you are going to field a striker who is at his worst when trying to manhandle a sitter into the net from zero range, then you are in deep trouble. We did and we were. It is not a new problem with this player, and is not going away. If you say we cannot blame our defeat on one incident, I think you are mistaken, they had not settled, another goal (very possible at that time) would possibly have started a route. Instead they were allowed to clear their heads, crash the ball into our box with great regularity, and exposed our flaws for all to see. The changes should and could have been made long before half time. Jicksteel was injured from the start, and that is the commentator speaking, not me. So quite what point was made leaving him on the field escapes me.

Building on the theme of my opening article, I'm afraid all I can add to KP's summary is: for heaven's sake what the hell was that for a performance! It was beyond belief that we looked very poor defensively. Perhaps it's the karma of scoring three in midweek that we must concede three to satisfy the footballing gods. Still, I remain agnostic over Boro's chances of finishing in the playoffs as we now slip down to tenth heaven.

The game was crying out for Roberts to come on! Even Neil Maddison was saying that.

Subs were introduced far too late.

Britt, get rid in January.

But I have 100 % faith in NW to get us at least into the play offs.

@malcolm.  How can we get rid of him.  Who would want a non scoring over paid striker?

No one has made a bid for him in the last four and a half years so they certainly wouldn't now.  His contract will run down and he will be a free agent in the summer.  He will need to take a substantial pay cut to find a new club. 😎

Werder,

Apologies, I wrote my match report before I had seen RR's and so it appeared in the pre-match section.

Not a problem Len as I can easily move it across along with KP's reply

Now that I have got over my anger (I tell lies as well) can I just say, that was three points flung away, Britt failed to take advantage of a wonderful chance in minute 1, no, not the infamous one under the bar, that came later. This one was equally simple, angle tight, keeper out of it, defenders stranded at the front centre of the box, Britt in position left side on box many options because defence was in shreds, angle tight, every chance to improve the angle, not a bit of it, just flashed his attempt across and out of play. Then came the infamous under the bar, I believe he wanted to crash it into the roof of the net, because any touch would have carried it in. Can I say that the penalty was a thing of beauty, not a good one, I am not a fan of footballers getting clever, it does not end happily, and that shot was pretty close to disaster, too High and near the upright, we will not discuss his version of a morris dancer in his run up, not good! Now, can we speak about our Keeper, at fault (and how ) for all three of the goals. No 1, ball being ping ponged on the right of box, he is four yards out of his goal on the left of the box, even the bottom team do not miss them. Second goal, man battling his way into box from right side, just struggling to get a shot, any shot, as he was being challenged all the way, our Keeper eyes glued on events in front of him, wanders slowly to his right, exposing the post and plenty of goal, yes he shot and scored. Goal no three, they were well away from our goal, but desperate to get in a shot, any shot, keeper was in center of goal, sees the danger and moves across to the side the man was running towards, at the same time moving off his line a few yards, he planted his shot neatly into the top right corner, no chance of our hero doing anything.

Well football is only a game fellow bloggers it not a matter of life and death it’s more important than that. As the great Bill Shankly said.

Might not be posting for a couple of days going into hospital tomorrow for a heart pacemaker to be fitted.

Hope I can see a Boro win on Wednesday!

Great news OFB that you've finally got your appointment for the pacemaker to be fitted - good luck for tomorrow and after that you'll be back to feeling much better.

@werdermouth I thought Paddy had his poorest game on Saturday and was at fault for the first two goals. It was probably a reflection of playing three games for Ireland following two hard games for Boro. I couldn’t believe how many chances Britt passed up to score which changed the game as it let Huddersfield back into the game. OFB

Hope things go well for you today. A Burnley fan of mine (sorry to mention the B word) had his second pacemaker fitted 5 years ago and he’s 84 now.

Redcar Red,

Another belated thanks for your excellent report, warts and all, still Boro have a few bad days before the end of the season although from being in control, missing chances to that result is a little strange. Then equalising with a penalty and not watching the proverbial red zone. That was typical Boro without question. Exhilarating, exciting, exasperating, wasteful and downright sloppy and careless with uncharacteristically bad/ill-timed substitutions.

I do think that the 'International breaks' are wrecking the domestic game, never mind 'Manager of the Month', still it's December tomorrow so that's well out of the way.

Stay safe everyone,

UTB,

John

OFB,

You stay safe and good luck and health after the pacemaker is fitted.

Oh, and do not go fluttering the 'Eyes in the sky' at the nurses.

Stay safe,

UTB,

John

Six weeks! You are definitely having a laugh.

We need you back and fit for Wednesday against Swansea for the Official's expert viewpoint. Having said that, after Britt's performance you might even get a game despite the pacemaker, worryingly I think that you could probably do a better job of putting a few of those sitters away.

On a serious note hope it all goes well and maybe avoid listening to or watching Boro for the next few games.

@john-richardson

After the demolition of ' form' on Saturday. It occurs to me that, if, (that word again), we were directly responsible for the goals in the match, then poor old Huddersfield are still in the dog house. It will be interesting to see the results in midweek. Same subject, will Britt be given another rest?

All the best wishes to you, mate. Never mind the loss at Huddersfield if you are ok today.

Keep safe everybody and Once Fat Bob in particular.

Caught this on BBC tonight ( available on the iplayer) its the John Terry racism row revisited. As Neil Warnock was in charge of QPR at the time and therefore Anton Ferdinand’s manager, he features in an interview ( recorded at Rockliffe).

Interesting stuff and worth watching.
