Clive,

I agree. I would definitely keep Howson and Johnson - I think that he and Coulson should be the left wingback/left forward options - and agree that a coaching role for Friend would be a logical step on his way to management or life as an ambassador/media personality. The others are either too expensive or can be replaced by someone younger. Clayton is a possibility as squad cover but I can see him moving to a Div 1 team. Sunderland?

Looking at the shambles against Swansea, it seems self-evident that we need pace and creativity.

I'd play three at the back with Moukoudi/Shotton in the middle, Fry/Howson on the right and Friend on the left. If George was told not to go up-field then his problems getting back would matter less and his natural left sided-ness would help him in dealing with wide players on that side.

Playing defensively, we probably need Savile and McNair to provide cover in front of the defence with the ability to get forward in support.

That leaves five slots and I'd give them to Coulson, Johnson or Tavernier, Roberts, Spence and Fletcher.

If we wanted to play more aggressively, I'd sacrifice one of Savile and McNair for an extra forward player, probably Assombalonga.

At least there is some pace and the ability to beat a man.

So Woodgate has indeed gone and is replaced by Warnock.

Something had to be done.

Andy, I just pray that that the 'new manager bounce' has an effect. This should have happened in lock-down to give him more of a chance to work with the team but it's a small start. What will happen to Leo?

Time for a coffee and digest some of the facts.

Stay safe everyone.

UTB,

John

Due to the change in manager challenge entries already submitted can be amended as I will not record them until Friday night but if you change Boro prediction don’t forget to amend the opposition if they are in the 8.

Come on BORO.

@john-richardson. Warnock has a good record at this level the problem is does he have enough time.  He also has a good record against his old clubs so let's hope we can put one over Cardiff. CoB 😎

@exmil.  I will leave mine as they are.  I am sure NW will have a positive effect but it may take more than 4 games.

@k-p-in-spain

There is one blot on the horizon, the unbelievable murmurings long the lines of 'oh, Woodgate is not certain to be finished with the club'

When asked to explain such a crazy idea, the answer was along the lines of ' mumble, mumble'

Which, of course led to Mr Warnock having to field the Question.

Can we be clear, he is not concerned in anything that happens inside our club. He obviously will be barred from the premises, that is a given in any club, Big or small.

Failed managers do not haunt the scene, they try to get a job at a smaller club, just to prove something.
