Interesting line up. Forss out wide and Crooks up top?

@andy-r

Good tactical thinking, Andy, which puts my very restricted thinking in the shade! My grand theory has gone up in smoke anyway - Isaiah is only on the bench!

Boro a goal down after six minutes (Ryan Hedges), Blackburn's first attack, according to Vic.  🙁

Looked about 5yds offside from the naked eye. Carrick certainly unimpressed and looked like Boro almost stopped playing it was so far off.

Boro the better team and a real shame to be behind.

Blackburn are growing into the game and are causing our defence more problems than we are theirs.

Dubious goal but they escaped our defence and scored, Forss couldn’t do the same when he was put through.

I fear the Blackburn hoodoo is striking again. 😎

Boro unfortunate to be be behind at half time. Blackburn have fashioned one or two half-chances but we’ve been the better side overall. No adequate replay of the Blackburn goal but it looked a long way offside on first viewing.

Sour grapes but there’s been at least three occasions when the ref has favoured Blackburn. Questionable.

A mixed bag in the selection reshuffle so far. Crooks has looked a real handful as a centre forward with clever movement, a few well disguised flicks and some strength in holding up the ball, but Forss has looked lost on the right.

Jones on for Forss and we’ll get a goal here. Watmore on later for McGree and we might just win it yet.

@philip-of-huddersfield.  Go to the main Sky match Blackpool v Sheffield Utd and press the red button and then the  ‘I” button which should bring up a menu of available matches which includes the Boro.  😎

Get in 1-1 Forss.  Just about to post why had MC not swapped Forss for Watmore when he scored.  CoB😎

Forss equalises just after the re-start with a spot of help from Matt Crooks!  🙂

Vic's view;

Akpom picks out Crooks who pushes it into the path of Flying Finn Marcus Forss and he leathers it home (1-1, 46 mins)

Red Button only just been switched on at half-time (Bank Holiday 'can't be arsed' staffing levels) and mighty Boro react immediately. Get in.
That was after he said he'd been watching for only 40 seconds!

Blackburn down to 10 men in the 50th minute (John Buckley, who had a hand in the Blackburn goal, for "violent conduct, according to the Beeb).

McGree then makes it two for Boro in the 56th minute! 🙂  *prays*

Get in 1-2 great header from Forss to tee up a great shot from McGree.  Now Boro don’t blow it. 😎

Jones now on for Forss (71st minute - injury to the latter, according to the Beeb; hope it's nowt serious).

Rest in peace Pele.

He was truly the greatest player of my lifetime at least.

Alex Mowatt replaced HH in the 67th minute, perhaps as a precaution, as he was booked in the eighth minute.  Crooks & Smith have also picked up yellows.  🙁

That was when the Latics were holding Blunderland at 1-1.  The Black Cats then proceeded to win by 4-1, including a Stewart penaty & a goal from Patrick Roberts...  Now sixth.  🙁  At last Boro hung on for the win & didn't concede a sucker punch to Dani Ayala!  😉

BTW, we are in a play-off position now. We are sixth going into the new year. Brilliant result. Up the Boro!

Great result tonight. Well deserved. That's Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers away... both fancied teams that are (or were) above us. We have nothing to fear now. What a way to end the year. So looking forward to 2023.

CoB.

Well that was well worth £10 although a bit nervy at the end.

I liked the result but not the performance.
First half - the game was very average. Second half and Boro scored two good goals and were on top without playing much free flowing football. The Boro team played at too much of a pedestrian pace.

Then we had a sending off, but instead of looking to kill the game there was too much cautious slow play with passing the ball sideways and backwards. This allowed Blackburn a few dangerous attacks and then in injury time Boro were gifted not one chance but three in one attack and all three players failed to score.

Hopefully, the team will play better in future games as the result can only improve confidence but in terms of the top two teams - Burnley and Sheffield United - this team are a long way behind and therefore realistically can only compete with about ten other teams who are separated by three or four points.

Good to see Boro win again especially away to a team near the top. Still can't tell from the angles I have seen whether Blackburn's goal was offside. If not offside it must have been a perfectly timed run as he got so well clear of our defenders but it doesn't matter in the end. Good to see Forss scoring again and making the second goal with a header across the box from Hackney's cross. I think that is the third time Forss has made a goal like that.

Great away supporters deserved to see Boro win.
