We just cannot score!

We should be 4-1;up by now. McGree should have scored.

Ok, we are away from home. So 1-3 will do - for the time being. Up the Boro!

That second goal was a thing of beauty.

Well I am on a high, not sure if it is the drugs or just watching a team produce what we have all been waiting to see.

After a slow start and going behind we have looked the better side albeit Norwich have had a couple of chances and the game is not over yet.

CoB don’t blow the second half. 😎

Definitely on talksport 2.

The Norwich commentators are full of praise for Boro’s play and movement as they lead 3-1 at half time.
Let’s hope they can get the 3 points.👍Philip of Huddersfield

Well yet another entertaining game with both sides looking to get forward and after Boro went behind to a great strike from Sainz I thought we would struggle. However, Boro got level and since then have looked pretty rampant going forward with Conway being rewarded for his start - have to say Dijksteel has been impressive after a shaky opening 5 minutes and so too has Borges going forward - though Doak has once again terrorised the Norwich defence. Looking forward to the second half!

Unbelievable turnaround.  At 1-2 up I was feeling smug.  1-3 rather ruined the predicition but I don't care.  It would be great to get some more but hopefully not to concede.  Sounding good so far.....

Boro brilliant after a very uncertain start. Once we got our passing game going we were much the better side. Doke causing all kinds of problems and his run from the edge of our penalty area after a Norwich corner was something to behold. He broke down the left laid the ball off to Dijksteel, who progressed it for Conway to finish. The decision to stick with Conway has been amply justified by his two goals and all round display. The third goal finished by Azaz was the cherry on the cake.

Edmundson somewhat lucky to avoid a red card could well make way for Clarke in the second half. But we just have to keep playing the way we have. It's good to see us get our rewards for so much good work this season. In truth we have been no less fluent in the games against Watford and Bristol that we lost

So, I go out for my Sunday Times & come back to a half-time score of 1-3, with Conway having bagged a brace (13th & 40th minutes) & Azaz adding the third!  🙂  Fantastic news!  Are they both starting to come good?  Let's hope so.

CJ at half-time:

It's the first time Boro have scored three first-half goals since November 28 last year when they ended up beating Preston 4-0.

This one's been a lot less controlled and dominant than that one was. But Boro lead, have a bit of a comfort blanket and, heading into the second half, have something to protect. Interesting now to see how they approach it.

From the Beeb's text commentary:

Boro's defensive structure in the opening few minutes of this half is so rigid you could hang your washing on it.

Frustration is creeping in for the hosts, especially Anis Ben Slimane, who concedes a free-kick as he tries to win back possession.  After the restart he does spread the ball wide to Kellen Fisher but his pull-back evades Ben Slimane and Josh Sargent and is eventually cleared by the Boro defence.

And quoting Cédric Anselin, a former Canaries midfielder, on BBC Radio Norfolk:

Boro have highlighted weaknesses when going forward. They have done their homework.  They are dangerous; very quick, pacey players and they hurt Norwich.

He's a tricky player, Ben Doak. Very good player, has caused the Canaries a lot of trouble on the right-hand side.

Bugger!  2-3 now.  Sainz again (71st minute). 🙁

Let's hope the saved penalty from Conway that would have made it 1-4 doesn't come back to bite us on the bum. And as I type that, Norwich scores an equaliser at 3-3. Bother!

Bugger!  2-3 now.  Sainz again (71st minute). 🙁

And Sainz gets his hat trick in the 80th minute.  *shakes head*  Can Boro do a Brentford?

According to the Beeb, the third Norwich goal was a Dieng OG.  🙁

Ayling on for Dijksteel & Howson for McGree in the 81st minute.

McLean sent off for a bad foul on HH in the 87th minute.  Probably not enough time for Boro to make it count...

Beeb full-time summary:

Where to start? Quite simply one of the best games you'll see.

Borja Sainz started it with a wonder goal, Tommy Conway's fine double, one volley and a cool finish to seal a devastating counter, turned the tide and Finn Azaz scrambled a third for Boro on the stroke of half-time.  However, after Conway saw a tame penalty saved by George Long, Sainz smashed another world-class strike into the top corner and Seny Dieng's unfortunate own-goal as he tried to keep out a deflected Kellen Fisher cross made it 3-3.

Norwich's hopes of completing a stunning comeback to claim all three points were hampered as Kenny McLean saw red late on.  They do however extend their unbeaten streak at Carrow Road to a year - 21 league games - while neither side is able to climb the table, sitting eighth and ninth still.

Feels more like a loss.  🙁

3-3 at FT.

A draw away to Norwich would, before the game, have seemed a decent result.  But when you have a penalty kick to go 1-4 up in the 2nd half, but fail to take that chance, it seems different after Norwich storms back to 3-3 to claim a draw.  Football?  Madness!

We cannot score from a penalty, even!

So one of the worst results of the season. We should have won confortably at Carrow Road. And an own goal for Norwict to equalize.

But not a 0-0 atleast. Up the Boro!

I'm not sure how Boro failed to win that game  - the three points were in the bag and it was just being zipped up when Conway out-thunk himself with the pen and then another wonder strike from Sainz made it game on. Unfortunately, Dieng got caught out on his near post and it was all square. Still a breathless game of football from both sides but yet another one that somehow got away - pity and disappointing not to win it!

CJ:

Norwich level. You could see it coming, but that's poor. Dieng caught out by the cross. Gets down at his near post, but can only push it onto his own foot and into his own net.

Great game to watch.

Shame not to have won. We played quite brilliantly. Especially the first half. But...

Two things to comment on.

1. We set out to be compact in the second half, inviting Norwich on to us, so inviting what was becoming more and more inevitable as the game wore on. I wish we would not do that.

2. That was a poor penalty. I felt for him being made to stand there and wait for so long. I had a feeling it was not going to happen for him and it didn't. He needed to step right away from the ball instead of waiting and then resetcitconcecthe referee was almost ready. Let's hope the coaching team give him some constructive learning from that.

That all said., in the thread opener I did say that a draw would be a good result and it is. What a great game of football to have watched. So many positives for us to carry forward with now.

Well we would probably have settled for a point before the game but as it turned out it’s very disappointing that we haven’t taken all three.  Norwich were struggling until the penalty miss and then when Sainz unleashed a worldwide to make it 3-2 the momentum shifted.  A poor effort by Dieng and two points dropped. At 4-1 we would most probably have won the game and moved into the top six. Bummer.

Shef Utd home and Norwich away, I would have took 4 points prior to the games but I think we let 2 points slip away. Conway did not look confident to take the penalty, he looked nervous while he waited, maybe they should have subbed Lath on. Also taking Doak off in the 71st minute, when he was our most dangerous player, for the totally ineffective Jones, turned the game in their favour. As I say I would have taken 4 points before hand so no real gripes.

Come on BORO.

I think most of us would have been happy with a point before the game but clearly are somewhat disappointed given the manner in which we earned it; the better team for the majority of the game, should have been out of sight had the penalty gone in and then conceded a bizarre own goal!

I agree with Exmil, Doak should have been left on until at least the 85th minute, it’s six days before we play again so plenty of recovery time and Jones ineffective.

Norwich player’s red card was deserved and I will be interested to see if it is appealed.

4 points from 6 is acceptable but we can’t afford to fail next week against our latest bogey team. CoB 😎

I take no consolation that I would have settled for 4 points from the last 2 games.

i am bitterly disappointed that Boro only drew.
3-1 up and get a penalty and only end up drawing.
Penalty was very poor and an easy save for the goalkeeper.

From being hammered at home ,1-4, Norwich are given a life line and generous Boro, like at Watford, cave in.

Really a game of two halves with Boro very good in the first have but collapsed in the second half. Simply not good enough.

Is Dieng becoming a bit of a liability with his latest clanger?

@paulinboro   Agree. Absolutely disappointing final result.

Definitely a games of two halves as far as Boro were concerned. We lost our shape somewhat at times in the second half. Hackney is very good going forward, but did give away too many passes. Morris had a decent game but lost Sainz for his two goals, which I have to say were excellent.

I have to agree about the penalty. Conway’s demeanour looked all wrong and so it proved with a very poor strike, which surely would have won us the game. I also thought Dieng should have done much better for their third goal from a cross/shot, with him standing way too far from his line.

So OFB and his Boro three, finally came true. Unfortunately the 3 were for both teams.

So a fantastic match to watch, if you were a neutral. For me as a Boro supporter, it was points thrown away. One can only hope that Carrick can get the team to play and score like this over the next sixes games in November, of which we have four at home.

Another disappointment was after showing promise and having a decent game and in some ways offering more than Ayling with greater recovery pace, Dijksteel looked as though once more he could have picked up a hamstring injury.
