Another piece of useful/less information.

Matt Crooks is on a gaurenteed annual salary of one million dollars.

Aidan Morris is on 700,000 dollars with Columbus Crew.

@k-p-in-spain My mother-in-Law at the age of 104 pronounce that 'getting old is not for wimps', never was a truer word spoken. Best of luck, the very best of luck, with your Prostate examination on July 3rd which just happens to be my birthday.

Two years ago I had to have the euphemistic 'procedure' on my birthday and the two eagle-eyed nurses spotted this and presented me with my enema gift wrapped for the occasion! Lovely girls and a sense of humour too, they also stood like air hostesses between the two toilet doors and gave me a presentation on the emergency facilities to the left and right. There's humour everywhere.

Keep smiling and don't forget the questions!

UTB,

John

Unfortunately the news from my Urologist today was not as positive as Exmil’s!

My scan and PSA results did not cause him undue concern but following a physical exam, yes you know what where, he felt there was something which needed further investigation.

I am now scheduled for a prostate biopsy on the 3rd of July with the usual pre op procedures before hand involving, blood tests, X-ray, echo cardiograph and meeting with the anaesthetist.

At least Mrs P got the all clear for another year following her Kidney cancer and removal of said kidney nearly five years ago.

We all have difficulties to overcome, this is just another one like being born a Boro supporter! 😉🤣😎

Congratulations to Mrs KP on another year of the important all clear, long may it continue. Sorry to hear about your visit to the Urologist and I hope your biopsy proves negative and everything is fine.

Today I have been given another appointment at James Cook, this time to attend on Monday at Nuclear Medicine, where I will be given an injection then told to return 4 hours later for a kidney function test, to find out if they will stand up to the chemotherapy, so I will be at James Cook Monday (twice) Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, I think I should qualify for the staff Xmas party 😂😂😂

Come on BORO.

Thank you to all for your kind comments and best wishes; especially to Exmil who has enough on his plate without having to read about another old man’s problems.

Nuclear Medicine, that’s a new one on me.  Hope they blast all your problems away. 😎

Apparently Nuclear Medicine is to run a test on my kidneys to see if they will stand up to the drugs that are being used in my chemotherapy, probably a safety net test.

I wish you well in your trials and tribulations, as Boro fans, “we are all in this together “

Come on BORO.

Sporting Kansas City suffered a 4-0 loss at reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew on Saturday. Boro bound Aidan Morris assisted one of the goals with a nice cross. According to the rumours he is about to join Boro now after playing this home match.

No matter how well or badly this transfer turns out, we have to accept that he looks like a perfect fit for what we need and, given his age, there's every chance that he can get a lot better. He and Hackney could be the heart of the side with Howson as backup. We also have our young midfield stars coming through.

In fact, if McGree stays, one could argue that we are pretty close to everything that we need. Maybe one more pure centre forward to fit in with Latte Lath and Coburn, a decision to be taken about whether we need another left sided player to play left back/left wing back/left wing and, last of all, some clarity about the number 10 slot.

Personally, I wonder if Burgzorg is seen by Carrick as the new Akpom. In any case, we have Azaz, McGree, Jones, Gilbert and Forss to battle it out with him for a place in the three behind the striker. There's some real talent there and you could throw in Giles as well although I'm not sure that we really need him.

@selwynoz    I have already said that I would not bring back Giles. Generally returns never are as good as the initial one.

As for McGree, as Exmil posted, we managed very well without him. There is the story of him not wanting to stay and although it is only papertalk, his comments are not positive.

If we can sell him (which may be harder than we / he thinks) then let him go.

@pedro I think McGree was quoted in saying on TV in Australia that he likes Boro as a club and an area. I think it is more about money what Boro can afford to offer him for a new contract.  If he is not greedy (McGreedy?), I can see him stay.

His market value has not increased since joining us ( https://www.transfermarkt.com/riley-mcgree/profil/spieler/428061) and he will be 26 year old in November. His contract expires on Jun 30, 2025 - so one year left.

Of course,  he misssed most of last season through injuries and had an operation on his angle after the season ended.

Up the Boro.

The Gazette (or Tesside Live) are reporting that Middlesbrough have brought fitness expert John Thrower back to the club this summer, two-and-a-half years after he left for Tottenham.

Thrower spent nine years as part of Boro's strength and conditioning team before leaving to join Tottenham in January 2022 as the Premier League side's strength and conditioning coach. But the Normanby fitness coach has made his return to Boro this summer, in a boost for Michael Carrick and the club ahead of the new season.

Boro suffered terrible injury troubles through last season and head of football Kieran Scott has been keen to implement changes and increase the medical/fitness team ahead of the summer to try and reduce the risk of such problems next term. Thrower's arrival is believed to be part of those plans as Boro begin work for what they hope will be a promotion challenge in the upcoming season.

Positive. Up the Boro!

Graeme Carrick (Michael’s younger brother) has officially joined Boro’s first team coaching staff. The Northern Echo in it’s report of Boro players returning for pre season, mentioned McGree being there.

Weird I have two tablets one allows me to log into untypical the other one doesn't

Back to footy , Giles no for me, I like Bangura , Fry must be on the Bubble, I know we've been interested in the Leeds CB , Cresswell for awhile, if Smith isn't ready, a RB on loan probably, a lot of the younger players will be banging on the managers door, itching to get a chance, Finch, Coburn, Ballongo, a few others, the midfield looks congested.

Hope the harmony isn't interrupted.

Sounds like the Matrix - might be worth taking the Red pill (or tablet).

Just picked this up off the EFL website regarding streaming matches next season following the new deal with Sky.
What about for international fans?
  • The existing audio-visual arrangements will remain for overseas fans..
  • EFL clubs will be able to continue international streaming services direct to fans overseas, where matches are not being broadcast exclusively, enabling those based abroad the chance to watch their team’s matches throughout the whole season
  • This is as a result of a new international TV rights deals, in partnership with Pitch International and Relevent Sports, that will showcase and promote EFL competitions across the globe for the next four years (until the end of the 2027/28 season)
  • Pitch International will distribute EFL rights in Europe, MENA and rest of world (including LATAM and Canada) regions.
  • Pitch will distribute:
    • 155 exclusive Sky Bet Championship matches
    • 38 League One and Two matches
    • All Sky Bet Play-Off matches
    • All Carabao Cup matches
    • 3 Bristol Street Motor Trophy matches (2 Semi Finals and Final)
  • Relevent Sports will distribute EFL content through the United States, which includes:
    • All Sky Bet EFL matches
    • All Sky Bet Play-Off matches
    • All Carabao Cup matches
    • 3 Bristol Street Motors Trophy matches (2 Semi Finals and Final)

Hope this provides some clarity, looks as if those of us abroad will still see all the matches except those chosen for International broadcast in the country where we are residing.  😎

MFC website now confirming the signing of Aiden Morris:

"The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year contract with the club after jetting in from the States this week.

The highly-rated Morris arrives with over 100 appearances for Crew under his belt and has a burgeoning reputation as a tough tackling athletic midfield man.

Born in Florida, Morris represented the US at U18, U21, and U23 before making his senior debut against Serbia in January 2023.

Boro head coach Michael Carrick said: “We're delighted to welcome Aidan to the club. He's a good player.

"He suits our style of play, he's strong, he likes to get on the ball, and he plays off both feet.

"He's a good age, but he's already had a taste of success and he has a good amount of experience.

"We're excited to work with him."

Morris becomes the club's third signing of the summer after Luke Ayling and Delano Burgzorg." 😎

I'm very heartened by the loan of Sammy Silvera to Portsmouth. I take it as a strong indication that we're intending to step up another level this year.

I think he showed plenty of skills and promise, but often chose the wrong pass, or even more often, just put his head down and dribbled straight into the opposition defenders like a school kid playing in the park.

I'm glad that the recruitment team are not blind to the shortcomings of a player who was very much one of their own selections, and also totally in line with their player strategy. He was a regular squad member last year. This year, he's not deemed to be at a good enough level.

He can now hone his skills and learn to get his head up and  better understand what's happening around him. The fact that he's going to be doing that at Championship level and in Portsmouth's time, not ours, is a big step forward from where we've been in the recent past

@peter-surtees.  Good summary of the player and what is happening with regard to recruitment and movement of players, when they are either not at the required level or do not fit.

Certainly appears to provide evidence that we are stepping up a level on both fronts. 😎

With 155 Championship games being chosen, how many per team does that work out at and how many per weekend and what happens if a game is not shown in a particular country. Do we then fall back on the Riverside Live system?

Also, does this mean that there will be new distribution partners in countries round the world?
