@john-richardson. All the best John tomorrow. Hope it is onward and upwards for you and the Boro. 😎
Good Luck for tomorrow John as Winston Churchill said we have to keep buxxering on!

Yes, good luck with the appointment John and just to say I actually had some radiotherapy on my neck and chest just over 30 years ago now - while it was a bit of a blast and gave me some radiation burns, it hasn't done me any major harm in the long term and sadly didn't give me any special powers either 😉
All the best for tomorrow, John
DiasBoro,
many thanks for the kindness and good wishes, massively appreciated.
Werder, I had the burns too and it burnt the lining of my mouth away, never mind my neck and chin. Somewhat unpleasant to say the least. Twelve and half hours of surgery was bad enough but that therapy, six weeks of it, well the last ten days were to put it bluntly hell.
Then there's supporting Boro, emotionally painful instead!
Anyway thank you all again your support is just brilliant and appreciated.
All the best,
UTB,
John
Some more imformation on the incident we discussed.

The officials for last night’s game between Manchester United and Wolves on Monday Night Football have been dropped for next weekend.
Referee Simon Hooper, video assistant ref Michael Sailsbury and assistant VAR Richard West have not been selected for a Premier League game in the second round of fixtures.
It comes after PGMOL and the officials were forced to apologise after not awarding Wolves a penalty late in the game at Old Trafford.

Indeed those radiation burns are not pleasant and I recall eating was a painful experience but the good thing is that they should heal pretty quickly once the therapy has finished and you'll soon be enjoying life again!
John Richardson, good luck today and I hope everything goes well for you and the same to everyone else who are suffering illnesses.
As far as the height of our two new players are concerned I am not worried, I think of great strikers who were not tall such as Micheal Owen, Messi, even Pukki was I believe a little shorter than these two and I am sure other diasboro members can reel off long lists of great “small” players.
Come on BORO.
We'll have to wait and see regarding quality, consistency etc but what seems far more certain is that Engel and Latte Lath look identikit types of player to Giles and Archer. Clearly that is the type of left back (attacking, good delivery) and no. 9 (quick feet, fox in the box type) that Carrick wants. Let's hope they're also comparable in terms of output.
I now wonder if the club will look to replace Akpom or whether the players already brought in are there for that. Rogers is of a similar build and can hold the ball up and link play but so far the finishing hasn't been there.
I think McGree will return to the inside left midfield role ahead of Engel, Morgan playing at no. 10 and then Forss or Silvera on the right I suspect, which leaves Jones and Crooks out of the side as it stands for me.
For all of our (often justified) grinding of teeth over recruitment, other clubs will view our funds raised by Tavernier, Spence and Akpom with some envy I suspect. That's a lot of money brought in via sales over 12 months or so for a Championship club.
@andy-r. I agree entirely with your final paragraph and whilst it leaves Jones and Crooks out of they side, they remain integral to the squad and provide options for MC to use as he sees fit.
I am looking forward to Saturday with less trepidation and just hope that Engel and Lath have clearance to play and both start, that will give the crowd a lift which we will need against NW and his team. CoB 😎
DiasBoreans,
As I said previously thank you for your encouragement and good wishes.
I saw the Consultant from the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital today for one hour and he said he was absolutely delighted with my progress, all is well inside, I look well, my weight is constant and all that despite what he called highly radical re-constructive surgery.
I'm having a beer to celebrate the good news. Now for a Boro win. Boro can you hear me? A win.
UTB,
John

Great news John. Delighted to hear it and really pleased for you.
@john-richardson. Brilliant news John, delighted for you.
Just need Mrs P to get her stitches out tomorrow and confirmation that she is healing well and a Boro win to top off a great week. CoB 😎

In the mid-1950s surgery revealed that a tumour on Randolph Churchill's lung was benign.
Evelyn Waugh went to his club and announced, "They have removed the only part of Randolph which isn't malignant"
@lenmasterman - I love that sort of witty comment. One of my favourites, apart from many to have come from the lips or pen of Winston Churchill, is the one (which has a few versions) where, at a Hollywood party, Margaret (known as Margot) Asquith met Jean Harlow. Asquith was Countess of Oxford, having married the Prime Minister, Herbert Asquith. Harlow was famous as a platinum blonde actress and in fact was the eponymous heroine of the film of that name.
In conversation throughout the evening Harlow kept referring to Asquith as Margot (with a hard "T" at the end). Exasperated, Asquith evenutally rounded on the American actress: "The "t" is silent, as in Harlow (HARLOT)!"
That's excellent news John an no doubt a weight off your mind - wishing you a speedy return to feeling simply 'normal' again!
Nice to hear John about your great news.
@k-p-in-spain Yes I know lol...I met Bobby a few times with other fellow Scots. A great guy. Got us tickets for a Wales v Scotland game which took place at Anfield. He stayed in the York Hotel in Redcar for a few months. Then with Jack Charlton they moved into a large house near the cricket field, just along from the hotel. Jack eventually moved to Great Ayton.
Wonderful news John it’s certainly cheered all of us Diasborians up knowing that one of us is fighting fit again!
It shows what a great lot Boro supporters are when this news means so much to us
Well done keep fighting !

I met Bobbys son and wife at the Riverside one game and they were guests of the club hosted by Jim and Sharon Platt.
Bobbys family spoke so warmly about the reception that they had had from the Boro that they actually stayed longer in Teesside than they had planned to do.
A perfect example of how the Boro gets into your blood like our own Bernie !

As most of you are aware I used to referee at Hutton Road and at Ayresome Park for Harold Shepherdson in conjunction with two other splendid referees Stuart Loudon and Tommy Radigan.
We saw all the great players emerge from the ranks of the juniors and two players really excelled and excited us with the way they played.
One was Craig Johnson who of course went to Liverpool
The other was Stan Cummins who I though was the greatest of them all/
We were the match officials for a trial match for the Boro juniors against a Celtic Side and it was played on a cold January day at Ayresome Park one Sunday afternoon.
After the game we were in the referee’s dressing room and Stan Cummins popped his head round the door.
”can I use your mirror to comb my hair ref they’ve smashed the one in our dressing room” he said with a nervous grin.
”No problem” I said as I stood behind him clearly a foot taller so that we could both use the mirror at the same time.
I must admit that I received a rollicking from my colleagues as they thought that I had been talking down to him!
But believe me Diasborians it wasn’t my intention!
A great player and I was disappointed when he went to a Sunderland.
By the way
Big Jack loved him !
