Writing about Boro hat tricks, Micky Fenton was the oldest to record one on the 11th of December 1948 in the 6-0 win against Aston Villa and yes I was there. Apparently he was aged 35 years and 1 month at the time.

But who was the youngest aged 20 years and 6 days? A clue is that it was on the 7th of April 1976 so some of you must remember who it was as it was well recorded at the time.

Wow, Tony Mac was my favourite player at the time.

He was usually a full back or rather at centre back but did he play in midfield, too?

Also is he still living on Teesside? What did he do after retiring feom football?

Thanks, Andy. I googled about Tony now and found two different info. The other claiming McAndrew left Villa in 2017 after more than 20 years coaching young players. https://trainingground.guru/articles/macdonald-exits-villa-following-bullying-allegations

But then there are claims he is still at Villa as a youth co-ordinanator: https://www.transfermarkt.com/tony-mcandrew/profil/trainer/16005

Anyway, now I know that the 64 year-old favourite of mine went to coaching after his playing days. He left Boro in the summer of 1986. At Villa he won the FA Youth Cup as a coach in 2002.

Browne and Bola?

Mogga is after Pears and it looks like its got some mileage in it. It would sense then as to why we have been linked with a few Keepers.

50 more years of supporting Boro? I'd be a shadow of my former self. Mind you the Boss is from Newcastle...

The worry is that as things stand we have about twelve, maybe fourteen players with the jury is still out on Browne and definitely Bola as genuine first team squad players.

Maybe Friend and Johnson will re-sign but even so to me it needs bulking up by at least 8 or more players considering that its entirely likely some will be departing. Of those Players with "First Team" credentials I doubt many of us would want four or five of them as first picks. A lot of wheeling and dealing to be done.

So Bristol City have done what Gibbo did a year ago. They have appointed a rookie manager from inside the organisation.

The Championship club have appointed Dean Holden as head coach. The 40-year-old was previously assistant to Lee Johnson.

Interesting to see how this pans out. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53722079

@jarkko

Not that I use it much nowadays except for shopping I drive a Chevrolet Laccetti and the colour is a greenish shade of cyan. I’ve had it for 14 years and at my age no point in changing it as it has only done about 53,000 miles. It has 4 stickers on the rear window, a longish blue one at the bottom of the window saying ‘Don’t follow me, follow Hartlepool United’ with 3 moderately sized square ones on the top of the window depicting Boro FC’s logo, a Cas tiger, and a Yorkshire white rose supporting Yorkshire CCC. I used to have a scarf on the sill Forza Portugal, but when England were playing Portugal in the European Championships some years ago I transferred it to above my Kitchen door in case someone vandalised my car.

The Kitchen is completely devoted to Portugal with 40 small bica coffee cups on hooks on one wall, tiles of Alfalma district of Lisbon, two wall plaques I made with the front of colourful Portuguese sugar bags, and 6 prints of towns and villages of the Algarve that I framed, plus several loose tiles on the working surfaces for my water kettle, cafetière, etc.,and coincidentally my kitchen is wood panelled and the same shade of green as my car.

I can’t believe I’ve just written all this, but I guess it shows how much I love Portugal and will miss it, it’s black coffee, and which sports clubs I support which I also miss watching from their respective stadia.

Things seem very quiet on the surface of MFC today, at least thus far.

We have apparently put an improved bid in for Goode to Northampton. I wonder if that is in response to media talk about Gibson and Norwich? George Friend has been linked with Forest and Birmingham as well as having his Boro option still on the table along with Marvin Johnson. The pair haven't decided yet but that is probably due to them taking some holiday time and deciding what they want in their own  minds. The offers will be significantly less but these are strange times in football for owners as well as players with no income in the foreseeable for clubs.

The Blackburn link with Pears does seem to be a definite one so we shall see what transpires. Meanwhile there are "stories" that continue to link us with Junior Hoilett and even Neil Etheridge down at Cardiff. One time Boro target (allegedly) Marcus Maddison is training with a non league side. Formerly carrying a several million pound price tag only months back he must be worth a gamble for someone to give the North East lad a trial?

The Kieffer Moore from Wigan story still seems to be alive and kicking, Cardiff were seemingly in the hot seat at the weekend but alleged wage demands from the Striker have seemingly come to a bit of a hiatus in South Wales with Boro still showing some willing. It looks like Amos has definitely gone to QPR as we suspected he would but the fat Lady hasn't quite cleared her throat just yet.

The Tyler Blackett and Chris Gunter links have gone quiet but maybe there's nothing to "read" into that just yet! The link with the Blackpool Striker Armand Gnanduille doesn't seem to have moved on other than just that, "a link". Maybe the big lad was just being used as leverage in discussions with Kieffer Moore? Paddy McNair (or George Saville come to that) haven't joined Stoke yet nor have any serious bids come in to test Boro's resolve on Dael Fry but its still early days. Jordan Jones is still in Glasgow with nothing coming from either club.

So apart from Grant Hall we have little to get excited about but no doubt Warnock will have been busy on his phone so we wait with anxious breath!
