Perhaps, somehow, the photo I posted from the Boro Fans Facebook page was doctored as there’s simply no way Paddy’s red would have been rescinded otherwise. I’d like to see more angles to be more certain but who cares - we won and he’s free to play on Saturday.

If Dael is available to play alongside him then perhaps it will be a back four but I still think we’ve looked more secure and, oddly, adventurous with three centre backs this season.

I see that the club has come up with a brilliant new and completely original idea.

They are planning a series of interviews by a Boro fan with Boro players.

The first will be with Bolasie, who will be able to share his insights on what it has been like to play a game and a half with the club.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he says that he's delighted to be at the club, how much he admires Neil Warnock, how he's determined to get his career back on track, how he will give his all to the club and its fans, and what a great set of lads he has joined. He may also share some platitudes about what went wrong for him at Everton, since that experience is sure to be of paramount interest to all Boro fans.

Isn't this the kind of thing we should have on here?

What do you think, Bob?

I think angles will have been crucial in the decision. At the moment in the Soaps on the telly you can see two people talking from behind one of them a lot which looks like they are stood two feet apart but are actually six feet apart for social distancing measures. I saw a photo of Aubameyang from Arsenal high five his Coach this week which from one photographers angle looked like they were actually hitting palms but from another angle they were "air palming" with their hands about two feet away. One was taken right behind the Coach while the other was taken from a side angle.

I don't doubt that Paddy may have made contact with his opponent but he wasn't flying in, in fact he looked slow and more determined to block and impede whilst clearing the ball rather than attempting to take his opponent out.

@lenmasterman

Hi Len

I do think it’s a good idea and I only stopped doing the In2Views because of the workload it imposed on Werder and his other work was more important to the blog than my Interviews.

Now we can edit and input articles courtesy of the way that Werder has set it up I can start doing In2Views again if that is what other bloggers would like.

They would probably have to wait a bit as the games are coming thick and fast at the moment.

I still have my little black book with players names in! Sorry my contact list of current and past players including four players currently in Australia.

Jim Platt, Andy Campbell and Dave Hodgson are good friends and contacts and I also meet up with Gary Gill when Covid restrictions don’t apply.

So if it’s considered a good idea I’ll start it up again

Ken re your History of Boro Strikers.

You can copy and paste from the original thread to the new one.  If you don't know how to do it I could do it for you but it would then appear as if I had posted it.

Not sure if RR or OFB have editorial rights which would enable them to edit your new thread so that the copied data then appears under your name/new thread.

If you want me to do it then let me know. 😎

Same here for myself I'm afraid which is why Ken's Reading opener looks like I produced it when I copied it across and why I referenced that it was indeed Ken's work at the top.

To state the bleedin obvious, the reffing in the champ is well below what could be described as Good enough. I believe that the reffing at the top of the game is now and has been for sometime in the grip of the top clubs. Evidence, look no further than the top Managers, deep discussions about any of their players sent off, with leading articals in several papers (with pictures of the incident). If they win because the opposition lost a player everything is o.k. Explosions of temper if the ref. Books their muscleman early in the game and reads the riot act, any goal against them is scrutinised carefully to see if it can be chalked off, not a privelege  granted to all teams. We will not even venture into the favours done to Refs. Visits to training ground by children, check, seats to big matches, check, even if it means that you will never get a bad decision it is an advantage.

Bob

I was simply making the ironical point that what is being flagged as a great new initiative and progressive leap into the future by the club is something that you have been doing on here for many years.

There is a further irony, of course, that since the interviews will be going out on the Boro website there is not a cat in hell's chance of anything appearing that does not serve a PR function and burnish the club's corporate image.

Sorry Len missed the irony I’m a bit slow on the uptake !

But I will start them again if everyone thinks it’s a good idea.

Not sure if you have seen this but very interesting about the appeal. Can she not be given a new job as head of recruitment!

@malcolm

i did see it and Boro have some very good people behind the scenes.

It is nice that Neil Warnock acknowledged that fact today not like a previous Spanish manager who didn’t associate himself with the staff and was not well liked by them

I’d be very happy for you to do that. It doesn’t bother me who’s name these stories come from, it’s just that I feel they should be recorded somewhere.

Thank you.

@ken.  Hi Ken, I have just copied and pasted across to the separate thread and hope you don't mind that I have tidied it up a bit by moving all the "likes" to the end of the document, I have also left just one avatar of you at the start rather than at the start of each of the previous postings.

I hope this make life easier for you having everything in one place.  😎

@lenmasterman However, we feel about the copy cat nature of Yusuf’s interviews, I’m sure we all agree that the abuse he’s been receiving on Twitter from people who call themselves Boro fans is appalling.

I despair for humanity sometimes and hope the Club bans all those involved, although identifying them may prove tricky. I really think that there should perhaps be no anonymity on Social Media. I believe those involved are cowards, to a man.

Thanks very much, quite happy with that. I didn’t realise that you would be able to transfer all that data so quickly. It gives me the opportunity to continue this subject certainly in the next couple of days starting with research  tomorrow. It just shows what different talents contributors to this forum possess.

Greatly appreciated.

Ken Smith.

@martin-bellamy I agree totally with you in there. I have always thought the rasist and nasty people on sosial media are cowards, too. And simple to a tree.

Yes, the sosial media should be open to those people only who are verified as humans. Like logging in through one's bank account in the first place.

BTW, I am hoping for a surprise 0-2 win for the mighty Boro today. Hall and Flecther to score after a 0-0 first half.

Up the Boro!

Happy with that team. Tough one today but I think that selection gives us our best chance.

Third successive defeat for Brentford today, can Boro make inroads towards the playoffs this afternoon?

From the Beeb:

Goal!  Reading 0, Middlesbrough 1. Ashley Fletcher (Middlesbrough) left-footed shot from the centre of the box to the centre of the goal. Assisted by Dael Fry with a headed pass following a set piece situation.

And according to Vic, it was from a free kick taken by Paddy Mac...

Marc Bola, of all people, doubles the lead!  😀   His maiden Boro goal, I believe.  👍

Vic:

Morsy carries across box, then slots it back for Bola to unleash an absolute thunderbastard into the top corner

Just returned from a long terrier walk to find Boro winning 0-2. I was at that game a few years ago where we were winning by the same margin at half-time...

Decides to terriers for another walk.

Thanks for the intro Ken et al., really interesting stuff. It's much appreciated.

UTB,

John

Half-time summary:

Well drilled & motivated Boro bossing the game. Reading had the best chance in an even opening phase, but after Fletcher's goal balance has shifted. Boro disciplined, great shape, stifling Royals. With Bola gola they're on a rola. Excellent

Boro well organised, holding their shape, pressing Reading quickly in middle, wide men dropping to fill gaps when WB follow their men inside. Runners getting forward quickly, good dead-balls. A great team display so far. But they are still getting chances so not over

Bettinelli is useless. He has not made a single save during the first half. (Helped by a good half by our outfield players.)

We should be three nil up. But a 0-2 will do me nicely. Hope for a similar performance in the second half. Up the Boro!

We looked like a proper football team in the first half and are deserving of our two goal lead.  Now need another well organised and disciplined second half to see the game out.  CoB 😎

Vic's star rat;ngs:

***  Fry, Big Lighthouse

**    Morsy, nuts and bolts

*      Bola, thunderbastard

Looks as though Fry carried on from where he left off when he picked up the injury!  😀
