It’s being reported that Middlesbrough are taking a closer look at former Aston Villa and Swansea City defender Neil Taylor.

Taylor is currently a free agent and is looking for a new club having played for the likes of the Villans and the Swans in the Premier League in years gone by.

Boro as we know are still on the hunt for cover for the left hand side of their defence with them missing out on Robbie Brady earlier this week, as the versatile former Burnley player opted to join Scott Parker’s AFC Bournemouth side.

Taylor, then, could be the next best option for Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock, and it’s evident he’s looking for an experienced head to come in and help his squad, as they aim to find some more consistency in the Sky Bet Championship.

Boro have tended to win a game and then lose a game so far this season with them beating Peterborough United last time out at the weekend with two late goals.

They’ll be eager to build on that in this round of midweek fixtures, then, and we’ll have to see if and when Taylor is brought into the fold, with Boro at least weighing it up right now.

Of course Boro deny any interest in signing Taylor and it’s probably just his agent touting him around the clubs

OFB , Reading your three posts reminds me of the old saying “I used to be indecisive but I am not so sure now” 😂

Come on BORO.

Middlesbrough are reportedly interested in signing Brazilian right-back Heitor Rodrigues. Neil Warnock's side are set to bid just over £5 million but his current club Internacional are not willing to accept less than £10 million for the 20-year-old. (Football League World)

This is being tweeted at present

Are we allowed to sign people outside a transfer window?

@powmillnaemore

You're allowed to agree transfers but the player couldn't arrive, or at least play for us, until registered in January.

The fee looks off for this unless there's the sort of clauses around promotion etc that can make it work. Could be a case of seeing what Boro did over the summer and coming up with something similar that fits. We'll see.

NewsNow is a good source for possible transfers.

Apparently Man Utd want to send goalkeeper Dean Henderson out on a 18 month loan, I wonder if this would interest MFC.

Come on BORO.

I’d like Boro to really explore getting young Premiership players who need time out on loan such as Huddersfield recently did with Smith - Rowe from Arsenal.

He’s since returned to Arsenal and is now a regular and played for England tonight.

@philip-of-huddersfield.  I agree but we need to play them.  Our record with some loan players is not particularly good when you think about Patrick Roberts and Jack Harrison who had limited game time with us. 😎

@original-fat-bob. I hope not he is 33 years old!  Journalistic licence and not a reality one hopes; that being said the oldies in our defence have not been too bad an investment so far. 😎

I know they may be only rumours  that  CW is looking to recruit players he knows and has worked with previously at Sheffield.

Of the 2 quoted players, one is past his best and the second has a recent injury record. We have enough ‘ oldies’ in the team and injured players around the place eg Browne and the ‘ scarlet pimpernel’ ( Ameobi).

I thought that a major problem with NW was that in the January transfer window he was looking to recruit more  players he’d previously worked with and this was a reason for his departure as the Club had different recruitment plans.

I assume, certainly in his ‘ honeymoon’ period, that CW will get his own way.

I still favour getting  young and fit players  looking to play regularly to enhance their careers from Premiership clubs. I take the point previously made that we must play them. Alternatively recruit younger players who are capable of improving and who will have an improved sell on value like,eg Bola.

It is reported today that Leeds are looking to make a move for Tavernier in the January window, Tav has 18 months left on his contract.

Given the reported interest by West Ham and Burnley in Dael Fry and the above, is that why CW is looking at the Shef Utd pair, only saying like.

Remember there are only two places left in the present Boro squad and one of them would be taken up by Balogun (if we got him on loan) as all loan players use up a squad number, irrespective of their age.

Come on BORO.

@exmil   Not sure what is correct or not, however I read just the other day that the 25 player squad rule is renewed and updated in January?? So if true, signing new players should not pose a proble

@exmil    As for Fry, I think he would have to start playing again and prove his fitness. Something he has not done for a long time.

I'd sell both and raise some cash. I'm not convinced that their value is going to increase any time soon given their constant niggles.

Newcastle United have confirmed the departure of coaching duo Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence.

If Boro would need a good coach living locally, Agnew is a good option me thinks. UTB!

@exmil

Makes you wonder what's going on with Bola. Is it perhaps all this carry on over his tweets as a 14 year old is affecting him?
