Thanks for your rather flattering words about my input to Diasboro, much appreciated.

When one thinks of the vile abusive rubbish encountered on the average football blog, one realises  just how good and polite and interesting this blog is. It is also full of insights into the inner workings of the club (and football in general) plus a mine of information on the game. I find it incomprehensible that any person could set out to rock the boat in this way. Let us hope that things get put to rights soon.

Plato, I think it goes to the heart of why this blog has continued for s long. we are all like minded and respectful. In all things there are varying degrees a spectrum so to speak, and although there is rarely a consensus on the content I would imagine that manners and behaviour are the one thing we all agree upon.

Just a few words on the subject of 'the team' at the moment. We seem to be coming a little closer to an organised outfit that knows where it is going, that may not be promotion but certainly the top six seems possible. I personally think that our assembling of some sort of settled defence and yes, I am referring the centre of said defence, which means Fry and his companion as fixtures. We seem to have the glimmering of a few midfield/ forwards/ strikers, who have the confidence to shoot without needing a team meeting about it. If the above sounds a bit too positive for our team then I apologise, but the return of Wing was a big help, his moving the ball in flight was a factors in the keeper being beaten by his corner, and probably had a bit to do with his second goal. I am looking forward to our next matches, just to see if we have turned some corner in our fortunes.

@plato

I’m glad that you are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel other than just an approaching train. I know that i tend to the optimistic side and so I appreciate those on the blog who occasionally have a more downbeat view of things. It keeps me properly in check.

Like you, I am seeing lots of positive football signs but, even more than that, there is that feeling that the club is being well managed and well run from the first team down through the technical aspects of training and sports medicine down to the Academy.

Let’s hope for a good end to the year and a really good 2021.

To your list of positives i would add the attitude of our manager to the price of players, he comments fearlessly about ten million players who he would not pay 2 million for, and that I like!.

@original-fat-bob Not sure what the purpose of your post was - an attempt at some sort of outing?

Hope you are OK Werder, and just busy catching up on Mrs Werder's "project list".

The old homestead just hasn't been the same without you. We are going to need you for the big promotion push in the second half of the season! After going through some dreadful years supporting the Boro it would be a shame to miss out on a far more positive outlook (well until the next defeat anyway).

I checked in on Werder just to make sure he was OK as with the way the world is at the minute things are far from normal. Glad to report that he and his family are fine albeit a little busy with work and of course home schooling keeping him occupied.

Like I suspect many of us, myself included for definite, the empty stadiums, lack of atmosphere plus the soporific football makes it very hard to get excited or even annoyed, let alone agitated or vexed. He did ask me to send his regards to you all, hopefully a return to crowds, some decent footie and maybe a play off final may coax Werder (and others) back to the land of the eternal optimists/pessimists (delete as necessary) sooner rather than later.
