Now Targett injured. 🙁 McCormick, Nypan & Sène on for him, Whittaker & McGree on the hour mark.
Burgzorg on for Conway in the 86th minute.
The right result following the week we have endured. Well done Boro.
What an atmosphere at the Riverside that pulled the players over the line - The players were up for it and so were the fans and perfect response to a very difficult last few days and Boro back into second for the international break as they regroup and patch up the creaking defence and get to work on getting the the attack up to speed! Plus deciding who is going to be in Charge...
Unless I'm much mistaken, HH's goal today makes him the club's current leading scorer with 3, followed by Conway, Fry, Sène & Whittaker all on 2.
I have to say that I gave my all today.
200%
Exhausted by the end, but still heading out every cross and fully committed to every tackle.
I was ably assisted by every one of the lads, especially in defence, and Aiden Morris put in a monumental second half. I'm more than happy to share my M-o-M award with Hackney and Browne.
But what a real old-fashioned game, gripping and exciting from start to finish and ending with the right result.
I'm taking my better half out for dinner tonight
Prawn cocktail followed by steak and Black Forest Gateaux for me
@lenmasterman Are you headed to Berni Inns?
@lenmasterman ah well done Len, keep them headers and challenges going my friend.
Can Rob Edwards leave every week ( not officially left ), I say that tongue in cheek, but the atmosphere that brought on today in that stadium was immense, it seemed every body who could get there got there and wanted to send a message, this was about getting behind the team, but actually bigger than that, this was everybody getting behind the club, it felt that there was a lot of hurt as to how our club has been treated and we were going to stand up against that.
I am exhausted too Len, enjoy your evening.
Anyone have any information as to why Brian Robson was sat next to SG? 😎
Another telling summary from the Echo (no subscription needed! 😉 ):
How long before a bigger club starts sniffing round Brynn?
Interesting Guest in the Box with SG today
Apposite that we got the win with 2 Teesside goals from Fry and Hackney. Well done Boro. UTB
@original-fat-bob around 14 years out of the game but i am sure there is many who would welcome him back though have to say not sure that is the reason for his appearance today.
But as I always say in football - who knows.
Robson is probably one of Steve Gibson's most trusted people in football - they went through a fantastic journey together and he perhaps needs the advice of someone he trusts to make the next big decision after getting his fingers burnt with Edwards - he hasn't managed for about 15 years so we shouldn't expect any surprise announcement...
After the turmoil in the last 24 hours it was good to get back to what was happening on the pitch.
And great credit to the players on achieving the win thanks to goals from two local lads who have shown loyalty and dedication to their club. Fry really showed his commitment as he had to go off injured not long after scoring - I dare say he probably wasn’t fully fit but decided to play.
It makes you realise that it’s the Club which is more important than mere people and certainly those who show no loyalty and a lack of sound principles.
hilip of Huddersfield 👍👍😁😁
Impressive interview with Adi Viveash on the MFC website.
He doesn't sound to me as though he's a man about to follow RE to Wolves
Agreed, Peter, a very good interview. Full of good sense.
Norwich have sacked Liam Manning, any takers? 😉😎
@k-p-in-spain just shows doesn't it, did a fantastic job with Bristol City, moves to a "bigger" job and cant buy a win. Grass isnt always greener ( Mr Edwards ).
Are the wheels back on ?
4pts from two tough games, one defeat in six, 29pts from 15 games ( just one short from the automatic average of two per game ), an encouraging fixture list up to the end of the year, what head coach wouldn't want this job - yes we all know who.
Adi sounds like a really good genuine guy and let's hope he continues in a prominent role at the club if they decide to bring in someone new.
btw those AI subtitles on the video were a bit of a joke - "two middle's ballads" almost took me back to Martin's opener instead of 'two Middlesbrough lads' 🙂
It's thanks to a team that fights for the points and knows how to manage games better than last season - though the new signings in attack really need to get up to speed if Boro are to keep up at the top as Ipswich are now getting into their rhythm it seems.
Though, I was a bit concerned with Sene when he came on as he seemed to only be doing a jogging press when leading the line - he almost looked in slow motion compared to Conway, who once again gave everything. I think the pace of the Championship catches a lot of overseas players out when they first arrive and they probably have to change their game if they want to be a success.
@werdermouth got to agree, think that's ten games for Conway now without a goal but as you say puts the hard yards in, Strelec although we haven't seen too much of him seems off the pace, Sene, agree, he even looked like he was puffing hard at the end after just thirty minutes.
Whittaker, when at Plymouth I always thought he looked quite pacy, he looked really slow today and in previous games.
But despite all that, we are sticking in and around that top two, long may it continue.
A great result today - we must look like a real prospect to any potential new manager. We’re still not scoring enough goals and have too many players out injured (nothing new there) but there’s a great foundation for any new manager to inherit.
Yes, very articulate and sensible. Sounded as though he knows his stuff and he was delighted for the players and the fans. Maybe he will become a candidate to replace Edwards.
I just thought, after trawling through the recent posts made since I left for The Riverside, that I should add a few lines.
I was delighted with the effort and commitment shown throughout by the team. The atmosphere in the stadium was excellent. It was good to score TWO goals and even better, in this difficult week where loyalty has been in issue, to see those goals both scored by local lads who've been through Boro's youth system and whose loyalty is beyond doubt. Brynn also had a good game and I hadn't realised McLaughlin was a Redcar lad (also through the youth set-up). Good to have important contributions made by four local players.
The crowd was SO supportive of the team and the Owner. At how many teams in the top two English divisions does the crowd chant the Owner's name (favourably)?
I was very tense during the last 20 minutes or so. Like Len, I may have sore neck muscles tomorrow from the number of times I thrust my head forwards into imaginary balls and stiff thigh muscles from the occasions when I tensed myself to be ready for imaginary tackles and blocks.
That was a dramatic afternoon, made all the more thrilling by the events which had preceded it. So good, so satisfying.
And Boro finds itself in an unusual position. Most clubs look for a manager when the club is in serious problems. In the throws of a desperate run of form with defeat following defeat and the league position slumping alarmingly. Possibly facing a relegation or having had to rid itself of its more expensive (better?) players as financial issues mount. None of these affect Boro. Instead the club is in the second automatic promotion position with the tantalising prospect of promotion to the Premier League very visible ahead in the windscreen. You'd think quite a few potential managers might think that a better proposition than going to a club in crisis in order to be the football equivalent of Red Adair!
And BREATHE! We can all have an (International) Break now, apart from those doing what is necessary to identify the next manager.

A couple of quotes from the Beeb's live text commentary on the Chelsea-Wolves match after Chelsea had scored the third of its three goals:
2 points, -18 goal difference; I'll tell you what, If Rob Edwards can turn that around, he'd get the keys to the City.
I've not seen a side looking as nailed on for relegation as Wolves do in a while. Once it unravelled, it unravelled fast. Southampton just about avoided Derby's record last season - Wolves look likely at this stage to be on for it.
Apparently, Saints had four points at the same stage last season... If RE is ready to turn his back in what Boro may be on the brink of achieving & walk into the car crash unfolding at Molineux, he's a bigger fool than I gave him credit for! ![]()
The comments by Viveash after the game were very complimentary about Boro, the people, Steve Gibson etc to indicate that he’s going nowhere.
I find that very pleasing.
philip of Huddersfield 👍😁👍
@k-p-in-spain Even just for the remainder of the season, unless we got promoted. Or another team poaches him. 🤣
