I have been quiet as I have been away for  a few days.  Nothing sinister!  I have been to Hutton le Hole.  An absolute vacuum for mobile phone signals and therefore the internet.  And on Friday7th July I will be going for the weekend to Masham.  Black Sheep and Theakston's Breweries will be getting a severe testing.  There are two very decent butchers there, too, (for the those who like a BBQ).  Football can be put on my back burner for now though I have today read the thread about the Preview Rota and THIS thread so far.

I will be going away for about a month from mid July to mid August but will hopefully be able to keep up to date with Boro from the North Northumberland Coast (the field where I will be camping DOES normally get a good signal and I have plenty of data on my mobile phone).  I will be back the weekend before the home game against Huddersfield which is listed to be my first Preview.  Hopefully in time to submit something to OFB on Monday 14th August...  By then I will no doubt be brimming with enthusiasm.

I see that Cameron Archer came on in the 74th minute for the England U21s in the Euro SF aginst Israel & scored in the 90th minute to seal a 3-0 victory.  Is Boro still interested in having him on loan again next season, do we know?

@stircrazy.  I think the answer is Yes but the likelihood is highly unlikely. 😎

Thanks, KP.

Just a footnote:  the U21 keeper is James Trafford, who has yet to concede a goal, but he's apparently going to Burnley...

@k-p-in-spain You are right KP the more goals he scores for the under 21's I'm sure there will be other teams looking at him.

According to sources.  Tom Glover has passed a medical at Boro and will sign a long term contract. The goalkeeper is aged 25.

My thoughts on the signing of the two keepers, Dieng and Glover, is that Glover will be backup for when Dieng goes off to the African Nations Cup, meanwhile Sol Brynn can go on loan until January then come back as No 2 to Glover.

Come on BORO.

@exmil.  Very good point which I had not appreciated; I was thinking we would sign one or the other but not both.

What you say makes sense and hopefully the deals go through smoothly. 😎

So two goalkeepers and now another winger being mentioned from Man City ie Morgan Rogers.

@malcolm.  Assuming both deals go through.

It depends which report you read/believe. Some are saying the Dieng deal has been overtaken by the Glover deal; it’s a case of watch this space/MFC website. 😎

Time will tell on the goalkeeper deals but Dieng has been left behind as QPR have travelled to Austria 🤔

Should be an interesting week/24 hrs as deals for the following to be concluded, Dieng, Glover, Rogers, Silvera and Van den Berg, which should be enough to keep even Malcolm happy 😂😂😂

Come on BORO.

On a completely different matter, I had the pleasure of listening on Test Match Special to the lunchtime Ashes interview today with Gareth Southgate. It was exceptional. Do have a listen on BBC Sounds if you can. GS obviously loves his cricket and knows the game, but he was also superb on everything to do with England and football. As he always does, he showed just what a thoughtful and intelligent leader he is. I hope he will stay with England for a long time, and I hope that some time in the future we can bring him home to Boro in some capacity.

Incidentally, he mentioned Boro. He said that he played with several Australians and remarked that during Ashes contests, Viduka and Schwarzer would always be strong cheer-leaders in the dressing room for the Aussies!

Morgan, Sivera, Glover, van den Berg ... and now Dieng?!

These are a spate of very interesting and (importantly) mostly young signings. Definitely forward looking and perhaps with the potential to deliver as part of the current first team squad this season.

I don't know if there's going to be more signings, but if we do , please find a free kick specialist, Johnny Howson is very poor in my opinion , he's not going to score direct, and his crosses are. Just lobs, alot are wasted ,did we score any from free kicks last season?

What a whirlwind of signings. Striking that several players have chosen MFC over other clubs.

Middlesbrough have announced the signing of goalkeeper Seny Dieng from Championship rivals QPR.

Boro have paid an undisclosed fee for the 28-year-old Senegal international, who has arrived at the Riverside on a four-year deal.
