Very classy first half with Norwich looking a bit more dangerous but Boro also carving out some chances. Hackney playing superbly. He seems to get better with every game. McGree also good and the Jones/Smith combination starting to function well.

It’s very good to watch and we’re still in with a chance.

On reflection I think that England should have pulled out of the World Cup finals,  and have now made the decision not to watch any matches in Qatar and that now INCLUDES any of England’s matches also. Of course my decision will not make the slightest difference in the great scheme of things, but It will ease my conscience.

I respect that. That is what we all should do.

I just wonder how some companies can sponsor the tournament. They should be shamed and we should boycott these product completely.

Up the Boro!

I have sympathy with your view, Ken.  I must say that I feel less interest in THIS World Cup than in previous ones. I may watch some of the games - most likely the Wales and the England games - but will not watch all the ones it is physically possible to see on TV which more accurately reflects the position I held in previous tournaments. I remember being away in Chester studying for Part II Law Society Solicitors' exams when the World Cup was played in Argentina (Holland was robbed).  I decided that football should come first as, if I'd failed the exams or some of them, I could always do retakes in the November. I remember spending quite a lot of time in the local pub watching on TV those games being played during opening hours.

Ken,

After spending a short while in the thumb shaped dump, I was both appalled at the tournament being awarded by the brown envelope cavaliers, and equally appalled that when the sleaze was exposed and the culprits named, that nothing changed, to the point where the gnome and the surrender monkey got off Scott free.

I'm off up north of WA for the next 5 weeks, and you know what, I'll miss the whole of the World Cup while I'm there, the sad thing is that I really won't miss anything that I didn't want to watch in the first place any way, this is the World Cup, in my eyes, that never was.

Norwich playing with three in midfield against our two and are overloading Boro.

Akpom should have done better after two minutes but put it over from four yards. Sargent made no mistake with his chance a couple of minutes later. Then Norwich should have made it two when their player was through one on one with Steffen, puts it wide.

1-1 after 90 minutes, six minutes of injury time.  Sucker punch by Matt Crooks in the second minute...

@jarkko

I agree with you but there is no way the UK Government will do anything to upset the Qataris when the UK is heavily dependent on their supplies of LNG.

We won 2 - 1 after about 10 minutes of added time! It sounded as if both sides could have got the 2nd goal but we deserved it. Great for the Boro fans.

Well, how about that?  A win at Norwich is more than it was reasonable to hope for.  A couple of months ago, you'd be considered mad to suggest it.  But we DID win, against Norwich whose team was looking for a promotion spot.

We are not recognisable as the Boro team under Chris Wilder.  Presumably only he knows why that is the case, but I'm VERY happy with that result.

Pinch me two away wins on bounce, I thought they were going to play until Norwich equalised

Norwich v Boro 12/11/22

Carrow Road k.o. 3:00

[...]

So this game is a close one to call really. The way that Boro are developing I think we’ll take all three points and win 2 -1. That’s not me being optimistic I really do think after our performance on Tuesday, we are starting to play with a swagger. It remains to be seen if optimism comes crashing down again, but I’m hopeful.

Oh, it's such a perfect day
I'm glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on...

What a second half performance and two great goals and 10 minutes of added time to keep me hanging on! Couldn't have been a better way to go into the break than a late come-back and another three points. Carrick has revived the season and now it looks like we have a team on the way up! Hackney superb in midfield and what a strike from McGree even quite a few of  the Norwich supporters behind the goal applauded! Plus great piece of skill from Akpom to set up the winner. Phew! I need a month break after watching that 😀

Wow, did I enjoy that or what.

I'm off to NEOM for 5 weeks, so I don't even know if I can catch the World Cup, but what a match to carry with me.

We can see where this is going... all loanees coming back to provide the energy and drive we now have.

. . .and what about the travelling army . .  really we have a great club and all we need is football.

Have a great break and see you all for Christmas.

Absolutely brilliant result and deservedly so.  We battled as a team throughout.  Great strike from Riley McGree for the first and excellent skill and pass from Chuba for the second.

Steffen made some very good and important saves.  Howson and Hackney outstanding in midfield.  Apart from an early lapse for the Norwich goal the back four were immense.

HH MoTM but another outstanding team performance; if they continue to play like they have since MC arrived then who knows.  😎

Who is this team?!!
Watched the game on Hesgoal ( with virtually no problems) and disappointed to go behind so early and Norwich on top for most of the first half.

But credit the team to keeping the game to 0-1 at half time.

And then the second half. For most of it there was only one team in it even though Steffen had to make a couple of smart saves.

The pleasing thing to me was that the players played as a team, passing the ball quickly and displaying a determination to keep going and fully deserved their victory.
So many good individual performances and the ideal position to enter the break in fixtures.

The wine will be more enjoyable tonight!!

Amazing result! 4 wins in 5 away games! Can’t ever remember Boro winning so many away games in such a spell. (Any offers, Ken?) And but for a last minute lapse at PNE, we would have gone 5 unbeaten away. The transformation is stunning.

Nice to see us win with a late winner, we had a habit of conceding late goals this season

@k-p-in-spain

I was very happy before the game, even though we were playing a team who really know the championship, and are happy to spend the entire season in the top three. Because we are now sent onto the field knowing how we are going to play, in particular how our team mates are going to play, and of course, it's only a game of football and we are footballers, so what is there to be scared of. And that folks is what a Coach does to earn his keep. And of course we now have a Coach. And a Good one!

Have a look back at the last 5 or 6 games. How good are Boro in the second half these days?

Great result and although it is still early days with some difficult matches after the break, MC has certainly improved the “Team” togetherness. So well done Michael.

It was a game of definitely two halves and I think Philips post is a good summary.

First half, after two minutes, Akpom should have done better with his free header, and then Sargent made us pay for that. In fact we should of been two down after only ten minutes or so. But we battled on as a team.

Second half was ours and although Norwich did have chances, we had ours and scored from two of them.

HH man of the match again for me, I just hope he does not get ahead of himself and listens to the Coaches.

However it was a great performance and apart from a couple of loose balls from the defenders and a couple of aberrations from Steffen (I think I can see why he was not chosen perhaps) it was a well earned win and another three points.

At least we can now relax a little for the next four weeks.

By the way we are just four (4) points from the play-offs. And plenty of games to come.

Happy days. Up the Boro!
