The gulf between the teams is wide and Bournemouth have started the season well so it's hard to see past a routine 0-2 defeat with us conceding early and spending the rest of the match flailing ineffectively.

With NW out of it and a player down it feels like the players will go onto the pitch having already lost.

Just got back in after a hectic Saturday shop and was quickly putting everything away and a carton of cream slipped out of my hand, split open and went everywhere - still no use crying...

No real surprises with the team selection - though I guess Morsy didn't impress enough midweek to earn a start - or anybody else come to think of it.

Anything other than a heavy defeat will be a bonus today and it's really down to Borophil and few of his fellow fans to be the 12th man and inspire the team - he may even get a game if he brought his boots!

Prediction: No Identity 0 - 3 Bourne Identity

Agree with everyone else.  Anything other than a defeat will be a bonus.

We're not at our best against passing teams.  We can't match them, but under Warnock will try and chase them down with vigour. But we inevitably lose our enthusiasm when they score.

1-3 for me.

Still I'll look forward to seeing young Brooks, who's an exciting prospect and not long for the Championship I suspect.

Agree with everyone else that I hope I'm wrong

anybody else got sound problems with the video stream - distortion, no commentary and just crowd noise (which is normal)?

@werdermouth.  Yes exactly the same here it has been like it since I logged in 30 mins before kick off.  The sound distortion is gradually reducing so hopefully the are getting it sorted. Not sure if it is MFC or Radio Tees issue as there was distorted commentary initially before kick off. 😎

@werdermouth. And then we go and concede a corner and an own goal! 😎 I stand corrected, BBC showing the goal as being scored by Solanke!

Not that dissimilar to the Watford game with Boro caught by somewhat  of a sucker punch - other than that Boro have look bright and sharp and created a few decent chances. Perhaps the crowd has helped - even though it's only Borophil and a few of his mates it has at least given the game some semblance of taking place in real time with feedback.

Well that was a pity.  We made a sound start, looked organised and comfortable in defence.  There was some good build up play at times but in and around their box we lack a cutting edge and the ability to deliver the right ball at the right time.  All too often players are making runs only for balls to be played backwards or sideways.

Dead ball situations remain a problem both when taking them or when defending them.  Given we did not trouble their keeper I find it hard to believe we can get back into this.  McNair is looking positive whilst Saville is floating around and not doing anything worthy of note other than being booked.  CoB 😎

KP, I think you will find it was Solanke who scored not an OG.

 Come on BORO.

Scrappy game, Bournemouth nothing special, but we are again creating very little. No width at all down the left once more. Johnson is playing virtually LB.

Does anybody have the commentary with the live match?

@pedro.  No it seems as if Tees have pulled the plug due to the interference experienced before and after kick off. 😎

At the moment it looks as if Boro will at least be outside the bottom 3.

@pedro

Yes it was definitely a Johnson o.g. from what I can see

Not the hammering that people expected, deserved at least a draw.

 Come on BORO.

Well we did in the end get something from the game, which before kick-off was generally thought of as a bonus. Plenty of energy from Boro but it mostly lacked guile and quality - then again Bournemouth weren't anything special on the day and rarely troubled. The second half was mostly scrappy with our forwards hoping to feed off the scraps from the second ball - too many long balls that didn't achieve much but the Cherries never looked comfortable in defence, which may well be their downfall again this season. Still, Boro off the mark and something to build on and something to send the 'crowd' home happy!

Well, that was definitely worth staying up for. It was the most coherent display that I have seen from a Boro team for a couple of years. We looked dangerous going forward and actually looked as if everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing. We looked a better team than Bournemouth and were unlucky to go behind after a double ricochet own goal. Solanke had nothing to do with it.

I'm now waiting for for our resident philosophers of doom to come out and find something to complain about.

By the way, Bettinelli made one stunning save in the first half and two very solid ones in the second half. He looks to be a proper goalkeeper.

Not the greatest of matches but I did enjoy it and, if only, we might of had three points but definitely deserved one. Pleased to be proved wrong with my score and result prediction.

It was good to see and hear a live crowd back at the stadium and I am sure that they helped to push the lads on in the second half.

Bettinelli looked safe and made three very good saves to help keep us in it.  Dijksteel is looking better each game he plays and McNair was Mr dependable alongside Howson.  I thought Blackwell got his substitutions spot on.

Need to work on all aspects of dead ball situations, both offensively and defensively albeit it was good to see the wall doing its job on a few occasions after we conceded reckless free kicks just outside the centre of the box.  A performance to build upon! 😎

I think we would all have taken that at 3pm. However Bournemouth were nothing special and if Boro had had that extra spark, we could have won the game.

As it was, a lack of width, nothing into Britt in the box. We cannot continue with this squad and expect to score enough goals to win games on a more regular basis.
I though McNair had a good game, followed by Dijksteel. Midfield did little, and although KP was correct in that Saville offered little, I thought Howson was again poor and looked just like Clayton did at the end when he did not have sufficient pace. I can only hope Morsy brings something to the team, but it won’t be creativity.
Still better than Watford and Barnsley. Let’s see what we can do next weekend.

I haven't read your intro yet Werder as I was resigned to BORO being hammered! That was the best BORO performance for a long time. Deserved 3 points but had to settle for 1 because of an unfortunate deflection for an own goal. If only we could score more from some of the good crosses. (The Rioja was nice.) My nose has started to bleed! It must be the excitement of BORO not losing at home.
