Mark Tinkler will take over as the club’s new Under-23s lead coach from next week.
It’s a step-up for the long-serving Academy coach, who moves up from his role with the U18s to take over from the departed Graeme Lee.
Bishop Auckland-born Mark, a former England youth international who clocked up over 400 appearances as a player, joined the Academy as a coach almost a decade ago.
He was appointed U18s lead coach in 2016 and has presided over the development of a number of Academy graduates who have progressed through to the first team. His final U18s game will be Saturday’s FA Youth Cup third round clash against Manchester City.
Paul Crager took temporary charge of the team at West Brom on Monday and he will remain as assistant to the new coach.
