It does seem bizarre to try and convert Hackney into a number ten when we probably have 4-5 players in the squad who would claim that is their primary position. I suspect Burgzorg is getting a run out as something of a number nine because of his physicality but his inability to stay onside means he's mainly causing attacks to break down.
I think the late transfer window activity sought to bring in pace as that was what the squad was lacking but as yet Edwards doesn't appear to know how to deploy them in his preferred tactical system - which as Len made the point was also a problem at Luton that saw them sign Jones as a wing-back to complement Alf Doughty on the left.
Whether Targett and Brittain can offer pace down the flanks appears to be questionable and in which case it should mean a back four and them as full-backs mainly focused on defence - though will that see others provide the width? Will Bangura ever be ready to play as he has pace and then there's also Hansen too - who also appears can shoot.
Perhaps it's the concept of picking a different tactical team for each game that is holding back Edwards from finding a creative identity for the team.
At the moment it’s a bit like Edwards’ Luton but without Alfie Doherty and Carlton Morris. That is, the one supplying the bullets from wide and the one converting them / acting as the physical foil.
Food for thought for January.
I guess Rob Edwards and his staff will be having conversations like the comments made above. Maybe one of them wondering about wingbacks and another wondering about two strikers and a number 10? All of them having now seen McGree for the first time playing in a real match (albeit briefly) rather than on the practice pitch they, too, might be thinking he appears to offer more creativity, making passes forward to put other players through, and the possibility of shots on goal, than anyone else in the team so far this season?
What I know is that I am pleased I don't have to work out the answer to the "Best Starting XI" connundrum. No guarantee that I'd get it right.
Surely a bad day at the office might well see a team that started off well subsequently losing 1-0. But to collapse to 3-0? The supporters who made the trip to Watford must have felt more miserable than me. And I felt pretty grim about it yesterday evening. Perhaps I should put that down to the 'flu jab I had in the morning! Ay, maybe that's it. Perhaps the entire first team squad had 'flu jabs yesterday. Let's hope they don't have their shingles booster jab before the Leicester game (which is what is in store for me)...
If it was down to the flu jabs then I suspect some may have not had their shots on target...

Which turns to the debate around a more or less settled team.
I see Rob Edwards is "a strong contender" for the newly vacant manager's chair at Wolves...
Somehow I can't see that., just more lazy journalism.
