Another great preview, Werder - they always are!

I’m feeling oddly apprehensive about tonight’s game and I’m not sure why. The evidence is that we’ll win tonight by a few goals, most likely.

Would love an early one to settle the nerves.

Three changes to the starting XI, so same as the one which started the three games before the Oxford encounter:

@stircrazy

Looks like this is Hellberg's First XI with lots of forwards on the bench for later!

If you're wondering why you're feeling oddly apprehensive perhaps the clue was in the 3rd and 4th words of your post 😉

Bugger!  The Foxes a goal up after 18 minutes, despite Boro's being "in control", according to CJ.  🙁

Started well. In control. Not happy with defenders trying to pass the ball out of danger. Defensively not convincing. They get an easy goal from a cross. Ayling not covered in glory.

Leicester come alive and looking good . Boro rattled.

CJ:

That goal...

has flattened the Riverside atmosphere. Boro haven't responded particularly well to the goal. Lacking an oomph to their play which their [sic - cringe] going to need now if they're to break down a Leicester defence with something to protect.

Boro trying to walk the ball into the net. A number of good crosses but no takers .Not creating clear chances.  Leicester not being really tested.

Boro need a goal from anywhere - a fluke, own goal or anything.

Boro back level:  McGree in the second minute of injury time, assisted by TC.  🙂

Well after a bright opening 10 mins it has been poor fair until a minute before the end of the half when RM pops up to sweep the ball home.

This is the first team but they are making heavy weather of it and so far LA is having another poor game.

Need much more speed and intensity and less side to side passing if we are to go on and win this. 😎

Ayling booked in the 43rd minute = send on Fry in his stead at the start of the second half?

CJ:

Boro fans let the referee know what they think of him as they go off for the break.

26,019 fans in attendance this evening...

Not the performance of a team aiming for the top 2 and automatic promotion. Caught in possession too often and a number of misplaced passes. A few shots at goal wouldn't go amiss either, although the stats say we have had 7 with three on target. Ayling has been off tonight, wouldn't be surprised if he goes off at half time, particularly as he has picked up a yellow card. Ipswich one up at Watford.

At last a cross into the box and a forward , McGree, passes the ball into the net. It can be done. 1-1 and all to play for.
Leicester have no need to change - defend deep , wait for Boro attack  to break down and then attack at speed  to catch most of Boro players out of position.

Boro need to change from this consistent close passing with everything going through Hackney  and the middle of the pitch. Too much slow playing out from the back. They need to stretch Leicester and play quicker.

It is a hard watch. I would like to see them getting in behind the full backs. We have a tendancy to come back inside which compresses the play in already congested box so no clear shooting opportunity. Getting behind the full back will stretch the defence more and create more space... and balls played in from thisvposition are alwayscmore dangerous.

LA is acliability tonight and I hope we see Fry startcthe second half instead. Otherwise givecthis group another 10 minutes before bringing on fresh legs.

That was a bit of a mixed bag of a first half with Boro starting well with sharp passing and good intensity with only a matter of time before we saw a goal - we did see one but at the wrong end as Boro's defence switched off. That goal settled Leicester and Boro looked stunned but thankfully got a equaliser in what had become a more even contest. Luke Ayling looks off it today - he could've easily given them 3 or 4 good chances with some poor mistakes and looks like he's continued where he left off against Coventry. All to play for in the second half!

Well Ayling hasn't started the second half any better - he needs subbing as I think Boro escaped after a terrible back header.

Well, I have been a big fan of Ayling this season but tonight he has been awful. The issue is that he carries the ball forward and normally he passes well. Fry is normally consistent, but he is so static and cannot really pass a decent ball.

Also for all who were questioning Conway, I am pleased we have him in the team.

Sarmiento & Strelec on for Whittaker & Browne in the 65th minute.  Ayling still on the pitch...

A disaster ? A shambles? Just not good enough?

The players let themselves and the supporters down.

Difficult to know which team was near the top and which was near the bottom.

2 points from 9 on offer says it all.

Play like this and finishing second in the League will not happen.

Lucky to get a point from that, despite the possession. Too slow most of the time, until it is too late in the game. Very disapointing that despite KH's words, we still want to walk the ball into the net, always one pass too many and the attack breaks down. I would like to see Cruz given a chance and I hope that Casteldine is available very soon.

Still 2nd.

Not the second-half display that was needed - too many sloppy passes and running into brick walls in trying to bring the ball out of defence - with Morris being guilty of too many negative passes. Boro just didn't look like they were going to score and only created a few decent chances despite getting into good positions but always were looking for a better opportunity.

It's been two wasted opportunities at home and 7 dropped points in the last three games - plus still that preview win eludes me...

All too predictable I'm afraid. We just don't have the quality of players to make things happen when we are struggling against teams who defend in depth. To be fair Leicester didn't look like a relegation threatened team Rowett has them working hard and the do have quality players. They were able to bring a 10 million pound plus player, Fatawu, off the bench. I have a feeling we might have to settle for the playoffs this season, there are teams coming up fast into those positions, Wrexham, Southampton and Sheffield United.

STILL SECOND

But Ipswich , 4 points behind have 2 games in hand and a better goal difference. They bounced back tonight after defeat v Wrexham.
