Well I can honestly say that I am over it. I was very pleased that we got the win in possibly difficult circumstances and also being part of it all down at the Riverside.

I do not have to “want Wolverhampton Wanderers” to be relegated, because no team in the EPL has EVER escaped it when only acquiring two points after eleven games. Likewise, no team has ever been relegated when they have acquired 19 points after 11 games. Well done Sunderland.

Werder said.      “I have no preference as yet but only hope they are a fit for what we currently have at the club - the Boro squad are still second without even playing that well yet - it must be a decent job for someone who knows what they are doing - if they stick around of course”

I defended Edwards over his choice of team selections of the midfield / forwards, believing that they may just not be good enough for the Championship, its pace and physicality.

However, I do hope that I am wrong and that the next Head Coach, along with the assistance of Adi Viveash, can maybe “tweak” things a little to produce more goals out of those players upfront.

If not, well come January, there could be some difficult decisions to be made about retaining what we have, or unloading and replacing with new. Assuming we are still in a good place.

Gary O’Neil is emerging as Middlesbrough’s number one target to replace Rob Edwards. (Football Insider)

OFB

Just a reminder (because it has gotten a little lost in the ongoing postings on the Birmingham thread) that Andy R has started a new thread to discuss "who next?"

https://diasboro.club/forum/2025-26/boros-next-manager/

It might make some sense for us to move over to there to carry on the debate.

...edit: and no sooner have I posted that when I notice Si has already been over there to make a post !!!
