I have always liked Tony Mowbray. I hope he could join our coaching team - even it sounds unlikely. Perhaps as a coach responsible for attack as we miss one since Aaron Danks joined Bayern Munich.
Anyway, here is his thoughts on Boro. Mowbray told the Red Radio: “I don’t feel as though Middlesbrough are that far away from competing at the level that Sunderland did this year. I’d say they’re only a player or two away. If they can have a really positive summer transfer market then I believe they will have a really strong season next year.
“The North East should have three teams in the Premier League. It’s a real hotbed of football with so much emotion and passion. I think it’s important they’re all there because the games are all huge. It’s about the people, it’s about the supporters, it’s about the stadiums. There is nowhere more vibrant than the working-class areas of the UK.
“The North East, Merseyside… These places are the hotbeds of football. I really hope everything aligns for Middlesbrough next season and they find themselves there, back in the Premier League.”
I think Latte Lath needs to be replaced as a minimum this summer. And staying away from injuries. Up the Boro!
Interweb say leeds, CP and Bournemouth interested in in Finn Azaz, hardly surprising given his goals and assists and this is what happens when the team fails.
He would be a good signing
Article in the Gazette on Tony Mowbray's thoughts about the Boro. Interesting in that he breaks with the dominant agenda that coaching has been the principal issue. He thinks we are only a few good signings away from emulating Sunderland this season. Which suggests that he sees recruitment as the key area. Not surprising since it was the January window that sabotaged our season.
I wish we had Tony, a genuine football man with both an eye for talent and deep knowledge of the Championship, as our head of football. He could provide Carrick with a sounding board for his methods and ideas which Scott cannot do with any authority other than that of his position. And there are few in the game with better contacts in signing the kind of players who would do the required job for us in the Championship,
In terms of the Gazette and Echo's recent coverage what has interested me most is the extent to which Carrick's position, either now or early next season if things don't improve has been the only story in town. A possible review of Scott's position, against which I have very large question marks, has not even been floated as a possibility, That in itself has been a major piece of media management by a key source within the club.
It's not right that the footballing experts should be continually axed, while 'them upstairs' sail blithely on

Middlesbrough have received a boost ahead of the start of pre-season - though it’s not good news for Aidan Morris.
Despite enjoying a great first season at Boro, Morris has missed out on a 27-man USA training squad for friendly games against Jamaica and Switzerland early next month, before the start of the Gold Cup this summer. Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has said his Gold Cup squad will be made up of 23-26 players from the current 27, meaning Morris won't take part.
it also means that Morris will be fresh when he returns to Boro for the start of the new season as I also thought he tired last season and made quite a few mistakes whilst playing.

@original-fat-bob You're right. And remember Aiden come directly from the MSL. So he played about 1,5 season in one run. He deserves a break next and it could be the reason he was omitted from the latest squad. Up the Boro!
Riley Mcgree fit enough to be named in the Socceroos Squad for this week's World Cup qualifiers but Tom Glover has been left out of the initial squad.
Working on the next In2 View which should be an interesting read (hopefully) I’ve asked all the right questions but not all in the right order !

Middlesbrough FC, have fallen only twice ,I remember well, from the second tier to the third tier of English league football.
1965/66 season
1985/86 season
2025/26 season coming up
Does history repeat itself, Luton were tipped by many last season to go up ,the boys in charge had better get it right.
In our Boro bubble, we often think we get it so wrong compared to other clubs so maybe this article is worth reading in the context of purchasing players for next season?
@eboroacum Thanks for this. Interesting, but not surprising.
@eboroacum I think this makes sense. Especially if we think Boro and Karanka promotion summer. Were it 14 new players in a window?
Up the Boro!
Strong rumours on posts that Carrick has been sacked !
I stress it’s a rumour but we’re going to find out tomorrow if it’s true or not !
supposedly has been leaked by a player !
DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER !
I suppose everyone will be proposing Mowbray as a replacement!!!

Clearly time will tell if Carrick is asked to leave but I doubt if there’s a great choice in those currently available. I expect feelers will be put out in trying to attract a current manager who is regarded as doing a good job - but if so the manager himself and his club may show no interest in moving .
One of my concerns when a manager leaves is that his team of coaches etc usually leave creating a bigger upheaval and gamble on whether the new team of bosses will be effective.
But then that’s football as we all know after a few games the axe will start falling on managers deeming to be under performing.
Mr. Gibson has an almost impossible decision to make with many pros and cons on whatever he decides. At least we’ve got an owner who I’ve always believed has done what’s best for Middlesbrough F. C.
philip of Huddersfield 🤔🤔🤔
I've started a new thread on the sacking of Michael Carrick as speculation on his successor starts - plus have move the relevant comments to it...
