Apparently 2 months ago (at Sevilla) he was being paid the equivalent of £76K a WEEK.  Hardly worth getting a sweat on for that...

THREE City substitutions in the 63rd minute, a fourth six minutes later, none so far by Boro...

And right on cue, the Robins equalise in the 72nd minute.  🙁

Anyone prepared to make a guess at Iheanacho's weekly wage packet?

whatever it is, he is not worth it

And sure enough, a second follows nine minutes later, both goals scored by a player who rejoices in the name of George Earthy!  🙁

Boro have had no out ball with no energy up front and Carrick make his first sub on the 82nd minute once Boro are behind?

and as a result of Iheanachu giving a soft free kick centrally just outside the box...

But, to be fair, he "SPRINTS" off the field when substituted after Bristol City took the lead after 82 minutes.

At 2-1 down and so near to the final whistle, we'd not be favourites even if we put Salah and de Bruyne on as subs.

"Bristol City simply overwhelmed Boro..." (BBC Tees).

"City by far the better team....on the front foot....on form and we're not..." (Maddo)

Five successive defeats....

Another defeat and Bristol were not good. The game was there for the taking but Boro crumbled yet again.

Throughout the game Boro players did not close down quick enough making it easy for the opposition to keep control.  They don’t look like a team- mainly individuals. They look so nervous.

Yet again , when some players were tiring  and some ineffective where were the subs?    What’s the point of Forss coming on after 87 minutes?.

That’s 1 win in the last 9 games.

Carrick’s days are numbered- just a matter of when he goes.

Boro nearer to bottom 3 in terms of points than they are to Sunderland.

Surely the question is now what is the logic or point in keeping Carrick as the season is gone? Same old failings. Opposition manager changes the game with subs around 60 minutes, our 1st was 83rd minute and then 88th. Can’t change a game like that. He can’t change a game full stop.

Boro in the end just looked overwhelmed and couldn't find a way to keep the ball or find an out ball in the second half and it always looked like a matter of time before Bristol scored as they just had far more energy - which was no doubt down to their manager making 4 subs while Carrick just didn't have anything different he wanted to offer in response - basically it was just hope to hang on to the the lead.

Without Latte Lath and Doak there's no sense that Boro have any energetic presence - even if Conway and Whittaker tried make runs they didn't make anything stick for long enough. Iheanacho just doesn't look match fit, which was evident when Borges cross just caught him by surprise and he could only miscontrol the ball.

Still Bristol City deserved the win and were much the better team and are now up to 6th while Boro with their game in hand currently played are 11th and not looking like bouncing back any time soon until Doak returns.

Boro have now lost more games than they have won this season (13 vs 12) - which tells the story of a team that are not promotion candidates anymore.

13 games to go, 39 points available. To reach the minimum 70 point mark necessary for 6th place - and it may well need to be more than that - we need to earn two points per game from now on. Till now we have won 1.33 points per game. We have difficult games against Leeds at home and Wednesday, Blackburn and Coventry away. On current form, I can’t see us getting more than two points  from those four. I swear I’ll scream if the EG once again repeats its tired old mantra - ‘Boro are not many points away from the playoffs.’ Stop it. It’s not going to happen, because miracles don’t.

@forever-dormo   Internet says he is on seventy thousand a week. GBP or Euros, not sure.

Boro apparently are paying half. Add to that the other waste of money in Junior, Giles adds nothing, plus over the odds on Whittaker.

I said previously, we could have of bought a decent player for that amount.

The transfer window has been an utter waste of money. And now Mr Gibson wants my ST money earlier than most other Championship clubs.

Why would anyone in their right mind buy a ST under the present circumstances. Probably a mid-table finish. Possibly a new Coach. Certainly a clear out of players if Mr Gibson still harbours any thoughts of a top half finish next season, never mind top six.

A season of promise and let down in a big way.

True - especially if you also consider that Coventry have won 6 of their last 7 (only losing to Leeds) while Boro have lost 6 of their last 7.  We don't just have to start winning a few games but we need to win more games than several teams who are 3 points or more ahead of us and are already close to 2 points per game in their last ten.

@eboroacum   Whilst I have criticised Carrick, I also thought that he had his good points in attracting players possibly and he tried to play decent football. But overall it did not work.

This season now more losses the wins as werder pointed out. Also there is no way of  getting away from the following.

Season 1. Good football, play off place, but we had no idea how to manage Coventry.

Season 2. Fizzles out to a disappointing end.

Season 3. A disaster, which ever way you look at it. Carrick says this is his best squad ever. Was that tongue in cheek?

Also one cannot blame Carrick for everything. Recruitment, January transfer window. Mr Gibson’s authorisation of everything.

And finally. Carrick and possibly his sidekicks are sitting on more than two years on an outstanding contract. That’s a lot more to pay out.

@werdermouth - And I think we all know, realistically, that (getting into the Play-Offs) won't happen.  All the talk, that each game as it comes along is a must-win game, is no longer true after you lose each one. That's not to say that the players shouldn't be busting a gut every game in order to TRY to win. But the reality is that getting into the top six will probably cease to be a mathematical possibility before the Early Bird ST renewal date arrives.

Agree re Coventry. Decent 1st play off leg but out thought in 2nd leg and did not know how to react when game was turning. It certainly wasn’t the personnel that stopped us winning the tie or promotion that season.

Are there any positives?

Well, if we get into the playoffs from here, we’ll be the side going in with real momentum….

I can’t believe the players’ ratings I’ve just read in the EG. Nobody lower than 5 in a side that spent the entire second half in our own half of the pitch! Two more defensive errors. I couldn’t count how many times Hackney lost the ball in midfield. And so on, and so on. Yer jokin’ arn yer?

Then Carrick’s comes out and says we don’t have any excuses, having just a moment earlier made the excuse that the free-kick that led to City’s second goal should never have been. He also says it sums up our fortune right now. Bolix. Pardon my Armenian. It’s not bad luck, Michael. It’s bad management and rank bad play.

@clive-hurren

I believe the second goal should have been ruled out for off side and the assistant referee made a poor decision

@clive-hurren   Hackney had a stinker, and in fact has had a poor season overall. I have said before, he just does not have sufficient pace to be even a decent EPL player.

Morriis flattered to deceive and was at fault for the first goal when he lost the ball.

Borge, had his best game to date. Saying that, the bar is not very high.

OFB. I do not know the rule for offside from a direct free kick. But the Bristol lad was furthest forward when the ball hit the bar.

According to the internet, Earthy was offside when he scored. However I have not read anything to suggest he was. The commentator blamed our static defence and not having a man on the line.

Either way, the truth was we were poor and got what we deserved

I guess this sums it up. Taken from the Gazette.

From the heady elation of that 15 goal bonanza in 3 games in November, how has it come to this?

17 games and 16 points from 51,  with a win rate of 24%.

Normally, that would be a sackable offence.

He looked onside at the time the free kick was taken in the replay I saw yesterday.

Hackney suffered from being captain again - probably loses focus on his own game when wearing the armband once Boro start to struggle in midfield - which was after the first 15 minutes!
