Deep in the Middlesbrough head coach's post-match press conference on Tuesday night came the revelation that he'd actually first visited the home of Charlton Athletic more than 25 years ago.
Hellberg seems to recall he was about 10 at the time and was in the UK with his dad, who was on a coaching visit, meeting up with other coaches and taking in games. They met up with Swedish former QPR midfielder Robert Steiner, who showed them around, and although they didn't take in a game at Charlton, Hellberg toured the stadium.

Hellberg has talked a lot about the influence of his dad, Stefan, who coached at Norrköping for 35 years, and Tuesday night's post-match revelation was just another glimpse into an upbringing that was clearly completely dominated by football.
It was little more than a decade after that London visit that Hellberg took his first steps into coaching, and in the 15 years since he's been preparing for the opportunity he's been handed at https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/middlesbrough/?ref=ed_direc t" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Middlesbrough.
And how he's grasped it.
Let's not rewrite history, Boro enjoyed a fine start to the Championship season. But there's no doubting the fact they'd stuttered through September and October, winning just three out of 11 games prior to Hellberg's arrival.
The exit of Rob Edwards was a bolt from the blue but increasingly looks like the best thing that could have happened to Boro, for it gave them the opportunity to land Hellberg, who has undoubtedly improved the side. And he's only had one full week on the training pitch.

@malcolm - Spot on, Malcolm.  And the more I hear about, and from, Kim Hellberg, the more I like it.

And I have posted the Match Preview for the home game against QPR on the next thread.
